Brake upgrade for the Camaro
Ok so I finally got a chance to put my new brakes on and it made a huge difference. I went from single piston 11 inch rotors to dual piston 12 inch rotors.
What came on the car from the factory

this time with the wheel off
[Image: 100_1949.jpg]
Here I have the hub, tie rods, and calipers off
[Image: 100_1950.jpg]
Next I took off the spindles
[Image: 100_1951.jpg]
Then came the lower A arms
[Image: 100_1952.jpg]
Here is my lower A arm about to take it to have new ball joints and polyurethane bushing pressed in.

New vs. Old rotors

Everything back together

Now with the wheels on

on the way to get the alignment done. The new spindles i bought put the alignment so far off there was no way to drive it and I wasnt going to do all the work with the tie rods just to pay someone to fine tune it in a bit so I brought out the trailer.

As far as front toe I got the it in the civic within 0.5 degrees by measuring the tread from 1 tire to the other in the front and back of the tire. Nice, job!!

Yea they are. The spindles are also off of the LS1. The Caliper wont mount to our factory spindles. Go to http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/ and email them. Ask if they have the spindles, Calipers, and rotors. They cut me a pretty good deal compared to other places I checked out. And they are located not that far away so you don't have to pay for shipping you can just go pick them up, cause they are pretty heavy all together.

Thats cool. I may have to give that a go eventually. Brakes are probably the worst thing about my car, aside from the harsh ride and cheap interior roll

Hawks is pretty good. I got my sub frame connectors from them. Sometimes their used stuff seems a bit expensive, but they have a huge selection with all those salvaged cars! Last time I was there I couldn't even get down their driveway they had so many cars, lol

Better pads will make LT1 brakes put you on the seat belt. Put some Hawk HP+ street pads on there, with fresh fluid (I use ATE Super Blue GT.)

Good shocks will really improve the ride.

^^^ Shon, it's like your the new Walmart for car parts. Lol I would talk to Shon and Hawk and see which one you like better. Either way, I've heard both places do very good work.

Unlike W-M (and other bigger places) I do not make a large profit, I do this more for fun and to help the enthusiast. This is a side biz for me, not much overhead keeps things low for everyone. Once you get to a certain level, you have to sale X amt or make X profit to survivie, I am lucky, I got a desk job where they pay me every 2 wks and the Herron Performance side is play money for my toys. And as you can see, my toys do not have that much going for them.....stock LS1 with some bolt ons.....and even though I can get stuff at cost, I look for used parts to buy and use on my car.

There is just not as much profit in parts as most want to think......

There is if you're selling the right parts to the right customer.

A set of cams for an evo runs 500-650 dollars and wholesale for half that... it's all relative.
