Is the Mini guy the one from Royston? He's a buddy of my friend Tom with the orange Mini and the Datsun Roadster. I think he's brought this car out before...

Hmm. Maybe the rain could soak some electronics or connections causing something erratic, but unless you've got a big leak somewhere I'd doubt it.

I have heard of ethanol-gas mix breaking up crud in fuel systems and clogging up carbs in older cars, but it doesn't seem like that would cause your problem unless it is affecting your fuel pressure regulator or something. If an injector got clogged, I'd expect the engine not to start and rev well like you said it did.

Can you keep the engine running above idle long enough to get the car moving (of course try to keep revs down so you get some oil moving)? Maybe it's the kind of thing where you can "blow the gunk out" Lol I'm at least half-serious.

Shaun, your right. The guy there actually had his card so I'll be contacting him soon to invite him to come out to our events. I remember seeing his car at one of the first CSCC autoxs I came to in the Lee lots.

Thanks for Coming to the 6th Annual Georgia Tech Auto Show!!
I am the founder and organizer of the Georgia Tech Auto Show, and I want to thank the CSCC for coming out to our show in the RAIN!!

I have signed up on your forum and look forward to doing some events together. Next year I would like to reserve a special place for the CSCC to display cars and promote Ga Tech students traveling up there for autox competitions and your shows.

This year at our show was a real mess, but most people still had a good time. I hope you heard the guest speaker. He was AWESOME. He talked about tuning a Bonneville Salt Flats car for aerodynamic downforce and drag.

We were supposed to have lots more awesome cars, but the threat of HAIL kept them in their garages. Only the hard-core fans showed.

We were supposed to have the Enzo, F40, 288 GTO, Nissan 350Z, Nissan GTR, several lamborghini's including a Countach, etc. All those cars were just not going to come out if there was a chance of hail.

Please post any pictures that you took because I would love to see them.

Anyway, please contact me with the details of your future events and I will pass them along to our group.

Please feel free to register any cars from the CSCC in the future!!

Next year the show will be on April 3, 2009.... rain or shine!![/img]

Sterling, first I'd like to welcome you to our boards. I completely understand what you mean as far as issues with rain/hail and being disappointed at some of the cool cars that you had planned to get to come. Last year we were in a similar situation, but just rain and luckily it rained only till 11 and didn't effect effect our turnout as much as we thought it might. The sun came out and it was a great day. I really liked your event and we came not only to check out the cars and talk with so many of the owners and ga tech guys, but also to hopefully take what some advice and suggestions from what we see that your doing. We walked around and I had planned on speaking with you, but I couldn't seem to find you. Didn't get to hear the speaker, but I'm sure it was great hearing about the salt flats. I'm always up for hearing some cool stories about racing.

As for our future events and yours. We really would like to work together and support each other, share ideas and build a relationship. I say this because from conversations with the Wreck Racing guys, it became clear that you've had the same issues with autox locations, general support from the university etc... that we've had. Look forward to working with you and I hope that we can expect some of the cool cars at your show to attend ours. Even though not many of us made it down there, I know they would be thrilled to see any of them like the LS1 miata, B18C Mini, Porsche 904 replicas ...

Awesome that you've signed up, thanks! I knew that the threat of hail was going to have a pretty negative effect on the show but I had fun. I saw an E30 M3 for the first time which has always been one of my dream cars (I need to dream bigger Lol )

Thanks for putting on a great show, hope we can make it down in the sunshine next year!
