2009 Poker Run
Ok, so a few of us sat down at dinner tonight and got this entire thing sorted out. There are still a few elements of this thing that are up in the air, but we got the big ticket items nailed down.

Basically, we are planning on holding this thing on February 28th. We'll meet up at 9:00am behind the west end zone and depart at 10:00am. During the course of the event, we'll be driving through Clemson, Easley, Liberty, Central, and Seneca. Specific locations and instructions will be made known at the time of the event.

Entry fee will be $10 per person. This is not to be confused with $10 per car. You can have four people in a car who are registered individually to increase chances of winning.

The entry fee will go to prizes and overhead expenses associated with holding the event. Prizes will be awarded for first through third places, and the event should take about two hours, give or take a half hour.

We are actively seeking sponsors so if you know anyone who can donate anything at all to our cause (even $20, it doesn't matter), please contact them, or give me their information.

I REALLY need someone with some photoshop skills to create a flyer that we can post around campus (with the proper approval). Nothing fancy, just something to communicate the basic info of the event.

A couple more things that need to be sorted out:

Each person needs to have a ticket number that is written on their card when they receive it......that way people cannot switch cards to make a great hand.

We really need two people to do the locations. I dont think we can rely on local businesses to do the handing out of cards since each card will need a number written on it.

Procedure for picking a card - Shuffle shuffle, pick, mark and youre on your way. Or we can shuffle, shuffle, mark, put in envelope and seal up.

At each location the next location will be given as well as the map to get there. Please try to follow the map as best as possible. GPS is allowed but only if you get turned around.

Scavenger hunt could be intermixed.....say take a pic of the peanut stand, or roadkill, or a cow.......stuff you would see along the way.

The final location will be the top of the parking deck in downtown central or P3----at that time if the ladies would like to do food it would be appropriate.

Each location would have a set open time so that the 2 operators can make it to the next location in alternate fashion. If you dont make it to a checkpoint you can call a coordinator to get the next location but no map will be provided. It shouldnt come down to this though.

Prizes awarded will be based off the entry fees gathered and the donations received.

Pick the best 5 cards....no duplicates if possible. If you have two Ace of diamonds then you real only have 1 and must use your 6th card? Any complaints with that?

Also the operators get to play as well. They get to select a random participant to draw a card for them and the other operator at each location they serve. Mark it, put it in an envelope and bring it to the next location and give the operator his card. Do this for the entire race and everyone gets to play. Operator play free?

Each location will have a different deck of cards, different style of card. Operators will keep track of cards given to each number/person. Each location will have a different color sharpie/pen to mark the cards as well. Gotta keep it legit since we dont want anyone ruining the event.

Prizes could be of type:
Advance auto gift certificates
movie certificates
walmart gift cards
restaurant gift cards
cash
free autox?
free dyno at the TDC meet?
wax detail kit

I can be an operator if need be.

Any feedback to my post?

I just pm'ed TDC and well see what they say. The incentive there is that the dyno time im requesting is only VALID for the 28th meet so youd have to go and chill.

Im hoping to bring amanda so i can have a helper and riding assistant.

Also we need to contact Tint Plus about some graphics. Just like the car show we can require each car to have graphics on it for the event. Say a little paw with a tint plus logo and your number on the paw.....whatcha think?

Ross, let us know what the club can do for the poker run as far as prizes....nothing big, see above.

We could also talk to algoods/teels since they seemed interested in the car show idea. Nothing like helping promote local busniesses

I assume that if my passenger isn't playing but is just going along for the ride they don't have to pay?

Depending on when the auto-x is and what comes up in my schedule I may not make it. Put me as tentative at this point.

correct. She will not get cards though.

Were hoping ross wont put the autox on that day. The 28th will be a busy day since theres already a car meet that day and this poker run.

Hopefully if we end at the parking deck we can get a group photo, eat, chill and have a good time there as well.

Ight guys ill be on this in the morning. Everyone involved in the planning send me your emails. Im going to make some phone calls to some local business owners who ive met from years of living in the area and see if we can get some sponsorships going. I know tint plus will be down but we will see.

Should be fun. James, send me a email with all the possible sponsors we spoke of at the meeting and anyelse who has some ideas send me to me via email. Sorry pms on here take WAY to long and emails come right to my blackberry.

Dustinnealy@yahoo.com

Im not asking for much when it comes to sponsorship from these guys. Handing out cards and 25 to 50 bucks or 75. They choose and depending on how much they pay depends on what kind of exposure we give them. Tint plus will more than likely make us the graphics for cheap since ive known the owners for years now. plus if not i know another local graphics shop that could help out. Is everyone plannig it cool with you know gumballin it with logos all over the car and everything. I know me and james talked about it and were cool with it but i need to know what im shooting for with these guys you know. LIke i said im starting first thing the in the morning.
