not hectic or anything this past week or so, heh Lol

Idk about bimmers but it sounds raspier on Hondas. Its definately a cheap and effective way to get more sound out of your stock exhaust. I deleted the cat on my car and it sounded much better imo. Deleting a resonator would be a better, and more legal and ecofriendly, way of doing that.

yeah cats on bimmers are on the headers. HUGE pain to remove. before i remvove the cat i would do full custom headers and a catback system. but have any of you met tommy glenn?

I LOVE the sound of a BMW inline 6. Much smoother than most V6's in my opinion.

yeah. the 3-series has a pretty smooth note. however the 3.2 in the m3 is just RASP. lol sexy beast of a car, but horrible sound. yeah but you should hear a lot of my car because my mom said that i could autox! i was shocked. what all is required for the car to race? do i have to remove spare tire, etc. anyone have a cg-lock on their seatbelt? im considering getting this for sure.

a voice of reason here....

dont mess with the exhaust system, everything is there for a VERY good reason. when the time comes to get more out of the car there are better places to spend your money before you mess with that

the first thing you should change on your car is.....

NOTHING

....trust me this is the right answer, talk with someone at the AX and they will show you how to play with tire pressures, they will be your best bet for the next 6 months. work on improving yourself and then let the car come next

just something i have learned over the last 6 years, good luck with your efforts wink

The car just has to be in good running condition and you need a proper helmet, stock seatbelts are fine. Also, you can't have anything loose in the trunk or interior. Spare tire's fine as long as it's fastened down, but most guys take it out anyway.

Before buying parts, read the classification rules for NASA and SCCA to see what you are doing to your car class-wise.

NASA gives your car a base classification as it sits bone-stock and then you add points for various mods (exhaust, cat delete, wider tires, springs, shocks, etc). If you add parts indiscriminately you might make the car faster but it may end up being pitted against fully prepared race cars. The Clemson guys can provide you with the version of the autocross classification that they use.

SCCA works a little differently, you start out in Stock class where you can do nothing but cat-back, stickier tires on stock wheels, shock absorbers and change the front sway bar (there's actually several pages of what you can/can't do). It's a deal where you can do "any or all of these certain mods" but if you stray from that list, you venture to a different class with a different set of allowable mods. If you did NOTHING but springs, for example, you would have a choice of moving to Sreet Touring where springs, shocks, sway bars, headers, and race seats are allowed...or Street Prepared, where all of that plus race tires, cat delete, alternate engine control and intake manifolds are allowed.

http://cms.scca.com/documents/Solo_Rules..._Rules.pdf

If you don't want to take the advice to leave it stock, at least educate yourself on what you're doing to the car's classification.
