Wheel selection; what would YOU do?

Wheel selection; what would YOU do?
I'm considering a set of wheels for the Slowtege for H-stock.

1) Keep the current stockers, swap on race rubber once it stops snowing (currently running snow tires). Unknown weight, but probably between 14-16lb. Haven't been able to weigh them sans tire.

2) Locate and purchase a set of stock-sized (15x6) wheels from a 1999+ Miata. Probably under $400 for a set in decent condition. Supposedly a little over 13lb.

3) SSR Type-Cs... right around $350 a wheel new. Just under 9lb. each. My main objection to these is that they would put a solid dent in my third-car-savings. Finding a set used is a possibility (there is a set on Miata.net, but the guy selling them is questionable) but these aren't exactly common.

4) Another option? No one makes 15x6 wheels. I can find stock Honda wheels (of unknown offset/hub size/weight) but they don't look very light. Another option is hitting the junk yard; there's a 2003 Protege LX in one local yard that I've already pulled things from, but yards usually charge $100+ each for wheels.

Wheels must be 15x6, 4x100, 40mm offset +/- 6.5mm, with a 54.1mm hub diameter.

Thoughts?

the SSR's sound like a nice choice at 9lb.

but take caution with online deals. If he already seems a bit sketchy I would stay away. We just had a forum member scam people for 10k using wheels as the selling point.

Enkei RPF1's if they make them, if not on lots of abroad hondar forums you can find some really sweet light wheels in that size/width.

No Enkeis. Volk makes a few in 15x6 but they're more than the SSRs.

What "abroad" Honda forums might one look at?

Call up mazmart in Atlanta and see if they have any wheels in your size. They usually have a lot to choose from. Very good service, I've done lots of business with that yard.

If you are looking for a miata wheel why not buy a set of the BBS. I think they made a 15" set.

I just looked and they do and they are 12 lbs. Stinks you can't run a 14" because I have a set of 14x6 hollow spoke miata wheels I am trying to get rid of.

Those would work, but hard to find a set. They only came on the 95 (?) M-edition, and tend to go for a premium.

I'm entertaining the use of older VW or BMW wheels too, but without offset and weight information, I haven't had a lot of luck figuring out what would work.

A set of brand new steelies from Discout Tire Direct are $190 shipped, and would make a great location for my snow tires. May see if I can pick up some used steelies instead (for what, $50?)

Tread lightly my son. Also, I believe he provided enough evidence that cleared him of any wrong doing. In addition, have you actually researched and talked to this supposed person that was ripped off to support your accusations? I'm sure no one likes being called a thief, so try not to throw it around to lightly unless you know its true and have supporting evidence.

He's wanting $650. Meh.

I was monkeying on the car today and discovered that my stock wheels are made by Enkei, and have partially hollow spokes. Curious, I weighed one wheel/tire combo: 34lb. The Helium + Fuzion I picked up was 32lb.

Too bad the snow tire is probably a lot lighter than the Fuzion.
