370z
I thought I'd get us back on track with some friendly car discussion Big Grin

Sam mentioned in another thread about the 370z so I went and looked it up. Did Nissan slightly f up on this car's styling or is it just me?

It does have its good points as far as styling goes. I love the overall shape of the coupe. Its supposed to be a retro styling like the old 280z's. The main things that throw me off are the headlights and the taillights. Its like they took the back end of a 997 porsche, added a little extra taillight to it and then took the front end of the new maxima and threw it together. Too many angles on the lights.

I am looking forward to seeing how it handles with around 332 hp though twisted . Should be pretty fun little car seeing as the wheelbase has gone down a little bit from the 350z.

My key complaint with the current Z is weight which is supposedly remedied. We'll see... it will take a lot to get me off of my Boxster fix.

Got an auto e-mail from a dealership in San Diego that their Boxster RS60 with black interior is on sale for $59,999 (that's $15,000 off retail).

waaaaah thats nice.

I was talking to xtopher about this on Saturday.
The rear end looks mutated and retarded.
WTf is with the black anus at the bottom of the rear bumper?
they removed part of the rear strut bar to improve space in the trunk. (they moved it forward rather.)
Front bumper is le-horrid.

I enjoy my car and must say that 300 lbs off would make this thing a screamer.

I can't stand the way it looks in pics. I'll wait 'til I see one for real to pass judgement though. I never thought the 350 was a good looker, guess I'm in the minority here...but who cares how it looks, I hear they're pretty quick. Lol

Yeah, the wheels and color on yours really do make a difference.

Car design is certainly a tough job. You can't draw something that looks good today, but something that will look good for 5 - 10 years from the time you draw it (which is probably 3-5 years before it goes into production). There are a lot of cars that I didn't like the first year or so but have grown on me... the E90 BMW is one of those. At first I thought it was hideous... then acceptable. Now I absolutely love every detail of it.

I could say the same for the CLS. I hated it at first and couldn't figure out why everyone thought it was so gorgeous, but now I see it as "acceptable", it's really not ugly or all that good looking in my eyes.

I agree, the CLS wasn't to my liking at first, but now I love it.

This new Z is just SOOO overstyled in my eyes. I really like the engine, but for me that alone does not justify the cost of driving a car that I don't find attractive.

The CLS is one of the sexiest sedans ever made bar none.

The old Z's I think are gorgeous, the new one is a bit hacked up, James as you said last night it just looks like they were trying too hard.

I have to agree...they over styled it too much...the Z shape bone lines should have been left out of the brake lights and they should have left out the indentations in the light clusters.

May the Boost be with us...

Someone on the Something Awful boards did a photoshop with regular head and tail lights and it looked like a completely different car.
