New to the board...
Just wanted to say hello to everybody. New to the board. Was at the Autocross on Saturday. That was awesome. My first one, and had a blast. I have a lot to learn, but what a great place to start. Thank you everyone that helped put that on. I hope you guys can put another one together in the near future.

Mark

Welcome! There are tentative plans for one in January I think, but nothing for sure yet.

You've got the black Boxster right? I like the whole all-black you've got going on it.

Welcome aboard... beautiful machine you have there.

Enjoyed watching you run it. There are some other autocross events in the southeast... we will pass out a schedule recapping those tomorrow night at the SCCA SWCCCR Meeting at Ryan's on Lauren's Road in Greenville.

I'll try to recap it on the forums later but SC REgion has an event at Myrtle BEach this saturday and on sunday, Central Carolina's Region has an event at Carowinds.... big big piece of asphalt!

There is also a Charity Event at Carowinds December 14th for Toys for Tots.

Let me know if you need more info on these or other events.

Thanks guys. I am the one with the Boxster(still working on finding a good picture for the profile). I have had it a little over a month, so still figuring things out. Funny thing is, I really wasn't looking for a new car when I found it(no really, I wasn't). I just happened to type in 'Porsche' on Craigslist, and the Year, Model, and Color that I wanted was for sale, in Greenville. I just had to get it (at least that is what I told my wife!). The blacked out, new exhaust, and lowered style were all bonus!

Having the instructors at the autocross was great. Sam road with me a couple of times and gave me some good pointers. I was plowing up a field a couple of times, and he told me what I was doing wrong. Great place to learn. Can't wait for the next one! My goal next time is to finish in the top 1/3rd of the pack, so got a lot of driving to do.

Ted, thanks for mentioning the SCCA event. I just joined SCCA a couple of weeks ago, and didn't realize there was a meeting tomorrow. I'm heading out of town early Friday, but am going to try and make it out tomorrow night, to see what all is going on.

Later,
Mark

Mark, it was great to meet you on Sunday. I second the comments about your car. All the guys at the timing and scoring tent were salivating over your car. Hopefully we can have an autox in january. We'll have word on that soon. Hope you enjoyed everything. Not to bad to come to your first autox and end up on the news eh? Big Grin

Welcome! I remember your car.. your exhaust intrigued me--reminded me of some pipes I've seen on a Ducati.

Yeah, I bought the car with the exhaust system. The guy gave me the original exhaust, in case I wanted to put it back on. Said it saved a good bit of weight. At around 2500 RPMs, it is pretty loud 'drone'. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not, but I found the perfect solution - INCREASE THE RPMS. So, I'm made it my goal to just run at a higher speed, um, I mean, higher RPMs! Smile

I do like the sound of it, though, when you really get on it...I could do that all day. My wife says we can't hear the radio, to which I respond, EXACTLY! Smile
