It went very well. The site worked out better than I expected.
Devin's course design was fun and challenging. There are some things I would change, particularly about the length and timing of the event. I couldn't see shit by the time my last run came around. That could have been remedied a few different ways. ![]() Jewish Racing Gold FTW! |

Yeah, sorry I bailed everyone; writing my dissertation and graduating is my #1 priority right now. Hopefully I can make the next one!
So? How did it go? Did all the first timers have a good time? Any major or minor snafus? Did the cops show up?

It was a great time! It really reminded me of the old days. Fun and laid back. Lots of joking around and silliness without anyone being too stupid. It was great to see everyone again and it was great to hang out with some old friends.
Having the car finish the day wasn't bad either. Only one "issue" we had was that we started too late. with that many cars (100+) we really should have started about two hours earlier and finished earlier to have fun runs or to get more runs each. Great job guys! Looking forward to the next one! ![]() 2.3 turbo power FTW!

Awesome... it went great! We did have the last two runs in the dark but with 103 drivers and a 60+ second course and a lot of folks who had never run or worked an autocross before. AWESOME!
It was great to see a lot of old faces that came to town for this event...sorry we weren't able to put a social together as well before or after. Sam, glad you came and hope you had a blast. Great to see Michael C., JD, Nevitt, Matt, Shewie and many others...been too long! Even Indiana Osgood came back from the Temple of Doom in Peru for this one! Ken, wish you could have been here. We did recognize all officers present and past that worked for two years to get events going again... we ALL appreciate everyone's effort... even those 1000 miles away. Course was great thanks to Devydoo's evol mind... Zach and Jamie did great keeping grid and timing... Ax ware did super. Very few re-runs. For a 2 year layoff, I think everyone was amazed how smooth it ran. Great job Ross for undertaking this responsibility and leading the effort. Our officers deserve a lot of credit for bringing this home and I suspect there are more of these to come in the future. Ted P.S. There were a lot of lady drivers that REALLY did well... congrats! Several first timers showed us guys smooth is fast! Great job. Ted E. BTW... the police did show up. JD Henley and I went right over to them when they entered the gate. We chatted about the event and seeing two old guys probably gave them some comfort...
I tried to talk them into running the course but they said they couldn't unless it was arranged in advance. We told them next time , we would contact the big cheese and set it up.We also told the Police to keep an eye out for some ricer dude that was burning rubber outside the fence... we told them he is not with us! He was in a white Evo and the top of his head looked like one half of velcro...

I enjoyed it and am glad we were able to have an event so close to campus. My only suggestion for improvement would be to start it sooner next time. |

I would agree that it ran better then I expected. Then again since I was helping run the event I was prepairing for the worst. I also has a awsome time with the course, and the new suspension in the miata felt great. I even beat Elvira

It was a little choppy at first but then again we haven't done this in awhile
. But after everything got under way it was very smooth and worked out great. I will agree with the starting earlier though. Driving in the dark wasn't exactly the safest thing ever. I had tons of fun even though I couldn't put down any respectable times, haha. I'll have to review the video I took and see what I did wrong ![]() Thanks to everyone that made this possible! ![]()

Well, I had fun and was able to chop some decent time off of my first run. I want to do it again now, anyone heading up to the Carowinds one?

seriously wish i could have been there. (9.5+ hr drive, I would be getting home here in z a.m.)
unfortunately i have already driven 4000 miles on teh z so far. (yeah insane, 2600 of which was in teh past two weeks). I just hate driving long distance right now. PLus tires be shot, but she is headed to the painters soon then going to be wrapped up warm for the winter. Glad to hear everyone had fun. Ted did you take any of your fun vids? would like to see how the course was laid out. 2010 Chevy Silverado 5.3l Crew Cab. 2012 Mustang V6 Missed but not forgotten: 2006 350z Track. 1987 Porsche 944S. 1994 Geo Prizm. |
