straight four Wrote:I stilll love the group that does continental/NTS um......you mean they start at 12 am and end at 3 pm? 80 x 10 x 70/(3600) = over 15 hrs of runs......maybe if they have 5 cars on course? |

Xtopher Wrote:straight four Wrote:I stilll love the group that does continental/NTS I believe thats 12pm to 3pm haha. A well run track with no loops could probably facilitate that. And i had a lot of fun yesterday. Thanks everyone and hope we do another soon. |

My hat goes off to each and every one of you who put this together. For the first time in over two years, no one, not even me, has grounds for complaint. Yeah, it ended in the dark, but there were light poles all around the course - maybe have 'em lit next time!
It sure was nice knocking the cob webs outta the ol' helmet and getting out there to thrash the car around. Seeing familiar faces made it feel like we picked up right where we left off. Let's see: Marc & Jen Osgood, Josh Snelling, Joe Coxey, Shane Roach, Rob Summers, Shaun Barrett, Mike "Sunday Driver" Casavant, Sprunt Mabe, even Sam Harris - it was great seeing all of you folks again - glad to know you are all doing well! And it was nice meeting the new prez - Ross, you must be a marketing major because you have a great plan to get the club back to its glory. Thanks again for the conversation! Looking forward to the next event - just hope it's on a Sunday so I can race! Tyler Grant 2002 WS6 Trans Am - Sold 2006 GTO - Traded And now... 2011 Subaru WRX... The "Blubaru" |

Well Done!
I'm not a club member but will be joining! I may be the oldest guy in the club. I was the old guy in the Boxster. 64.5 (+1) felt pretty good on streets.
I ran a couple of CSCC events a few years ago and wasn't impressed with the site (too many obstacles and safety was an issue) but the fairgrounds proved to be a fun and safe site. The course was well laid out with something for everyone. Fast sections for the hp guys and tight technical sections for the nimble guys. Constructive Criticism: I'll echo some other comments about starting earlier. I ran the last run with my headlights on and the track had cooled off enough that I had lost a lot of grip on my last two runs. It would also be good to run all the cars in a class in the same run group to avoid giving an advantage to cars that lucked into the right run group that day. Sometimes early groups are better, sometimes mid or late groups are better. Putting all cars in a class in the same run group would level the field and improve competition. Posting times would also improve competition because you could see what you needed to do. I felt I was just doing fun runs (and they were fun) because I had no idea what others in my class had done. As Arnold would say...."I'll be back!" |

^^^ Thanks for the suggestions Buck. They are all very good points that we will be addressing.
Again, sorry for the late start and finish, I too was in the last run group and was disappointed to have to run on the colder asphalt without being able to see all the cones clearly. It was unfortunately the first time the 4 officers have run an autox and this added to some of the issues that you mentioned. As for Times, we could potentially print out times after each run is done for each run group. Unfortunately right now we dont have the financing to get a display quite yet, but it is in our future for sure. Can't wait to put on another one. ![]() 2010 Mk6 Gti... No it's not a DSG

I didn't make it to the event, but big props to Ross for making this happen.

Hey Ross,
how about having a second laptop setup with the live timing displayed. that way people won't be bugging the timing table after each group.
Fire retardant gloves also work for taking hot pans or dishes out of the oven

I guess i overestimated total cars. Underestimated time.
We run 2-3 cars on track at a time. The course never loops back enough to bring the cars close to each other. Usually is 4 or so hours of fun. We do start at noon get done 3 to 4 pm. 2 run groups and we alternate so that you work twice, drive twice. Usually 45 to 60 min a group. Buxster, we need you to meet $2 bill. Anyone know if he is still pimping the Boxster or if he has gone Cayman? Also, is now the time to pressure officers into figuring out how to use the LED sign i provided 2 years ago? The one Mike has. It has 4 inch LED letters visible to 1000 ft. He took it home and said that he needed to figure out what programming was needed. Never heard back. (sign was working and complete when Bosch Scrapped it out to us.) Its a $1k sign so... 2010 Chevy Silverado 5.3l Crew Cab. 2012 Mustang V6 Missed but not forgotten: 2006 350z Track. 1987 Porsche 944S. 1994 Geo Prizm. |

I had an absolute blast! It was like a CSCC reunion. Too bad we couldn't dig up Ken, Dave, or Tony.
I'm glad I instructed like 60 times because during my first two runs I was driving into the setting sun and couldn't see shit then the second two runs it was dark and Shaun's headlights aren't exactly all that great.Ricer excuses aside, I sucked big time because I forgot how to modulate brakes. Sorry about all those flat spots, Shaun! Best fun I've had all year! Thank you to everyone for such a great event! |

It was fun for my 1st autocross. The course fit the parking lot perfectly and wasn't too hard for a new driver. I was happy I was in the first group since it got dark for the last group.
Thanks to Sam H for instructing me. It has to be crazy to get into a car with a new driver. I was the slowest Subaru out there. My car had more power to give, but I just didn't know how to drive it hard. Maybe next time.I'll have to stop in at one of the Wednesday night meetings. I work for Clemson so I should be able to find the place. |

This weekend was awesome!!!! I'm hooked on autocrossing now and I'll be looking for other events to go to. We have got to do that again either in Anderson or on campus if possible.
