New to forum -- junior ME with classic car
Hey everybody, name's Cleveland, and I'm a junior ME major. I drive a light blue '63 Ford Fairlane 500 (2-door post), and I've been considering getting into autocross -- although I have no previous experience. I'm sure I've got a lot to learn, but I suppose I've got to start somewhere. I am aware that a classic car will have inferior handling, but for me autocross would probably be more about having fun than being terribly competitive.
Also, I am not sure how to classify the car. I mean, it's not stock -- the straight-six engine came from a '67 Mustang, and it's got a T-5 5-speed manual trans, probably from a later-model foxbody. So it's been modified, but it's not terribly fast. Any help with classification would be appreciated! |

Welcome! Any pictures of the Galaxy? Sounds like an awesome car. As far as your class goes, it will just be Novice for the first few events. After that, from the sounds of it you'll be in the lowest class, but we could always just make up a class ("vintage" ) for you or something

So instead, here's a link to my page on American Torque: http://www.americantorque.com/page/1/2034/ Thanks for the response to my classification question -- it's good to know y'all can find a place for me! |

![]() That thing is too nice for a college car! If you quote a post with a picture, you can see the template and how to post them. You just have to get the picture's URL (the actual picture, not the page it's on) and put it in the IMG brackets. You get a picture's URL by right-clicking it. ![]() Joy...is not trying to pan a fast moving object at dusk with a point-and shoot... |

Ha thanks! I guess it might be a little too nice for a college car, but hey, ya only live once. My family acquired it from a guy who was kind of hurting for cash, so we got a really good deal on it. And I get to drive it. heh heh
Thanks for the tip on picture-posting! |

I didn't want to say anything, but there is a difference. Actually, people often assume it's a falcon. But it's understandable that people wouldn't recognize it as a Fairlane since '63 Fairlanes really aren't all that common. |

A slip of the fingers
I'm halfway familiar with cars from the 60s, I know there's a difference
