Couple of new racing websites
http://www.dragonhillclimb.com

Website for the Chasing the Dragon Hillclimb held in Robbinsville, NC (near Tail of the Dragon). We will hold TWO events there in 2012!

http://www.sedivtt.com
Also SCCA Southeast Division Time Trial website
New schedule for Track Trials, PDX and Hillclimbs is up!

Thanks!
Ted

Understeer is when you hit the mountain with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the mountain with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the mountain, torque is how far you move the mountain.

AMP will be finished by June? Sweet!

What certification would I need from NASA to compete in hillclimb?

June, sure, the question is what year Lol Track Openings never happen on schedule it seems.

- KB, little peeved about getting burned by NOLA Motorsport Park's delays, esp after numerous reassurances everything was already ready. noemo

A Time Trial license from NASA will work.

I am working on something with SCCA SEDIV Time Trial Committee that would allow drivers to run Hillclimb on a novice license ($35). It involves you attending the Hillclimb with nomex safety gear and car tech'ed to rules, sitting in on classroom instruction, taking a slow ride up the hill and getting out and walking critical corners... and working with a mentor first day. PHA and SCCA statistics show incidents are not occurring with first timers... they are scared crapless (which is cost effective as we need less porta-potties.) The incidents occur from experienced drivers pushing the envelope going after records or class wins. These guys are nuts. No one in my family, of course. ; )

I'll let you know as soon as this is passed in to law. Right now, it's in legislation and should have a solid approval long before May 5-6...our FIRST SEDIV Hillclimb at Chasing the Dragon.

Hopefully I will be getting near a TT license sometime this season, not sure exactly when they graduate you up though.

And tomorrow I'll have something to throw an exterior kill switch on, along with whatever other requirements there are Wink

You can get a checkride for a TT license once you've done enough HPDE3 to learn what you need to learn from that group and feel like you're ready to get into a deeper pool (fully open passing, even faster cars & drivers, etc)
