Yep, I think I'm about to sell the Boxster though. I hadn't been on-track when I bought it, and now I don't want to put something that valuable on track 'til I am making some more money Lol

Robbie <--- smart guy who discriminates against tracks with large quantities of immoveable concrete walls

I wish you guys could have driven the OLD Road Atlanta from the 80s... layout was awesome, no concrete walls and lots of run off... here a clip from 85. You can even see David Hobbs driving his Brit butt off ...

they had 20 foot inflatable pools in the infield camping... could watch cars fly by from in the pool. Red clay you could not get out of your clothes ...but it sure was soft if you were in a car. A LOT softer than than concrete...

Awesome video Ted. It is always cool to see what tracks were like. Like how 10A and 10B didn't exist.

Funny...just thought about it... I worked Fire And Rescue Team for several years at Road Atlanta before I started driving on it (I was an EMT for Greenville County EMS for two years). We had the coolest black t shirts with the first letter of each word in BOLD. (Think about it...)

Back then, workers had to watch like hawks... a car went off and you would not know it because it went into dirt and grass and spun around and seldom hit a tire wall except at turn 5...that turn was the closest you got to something at speed other than bridge tunnel. The Bridgestone tunnel was two cars wide and often 4 tried to thread the needle simultaneously... Vaseline on the fenders didn't help a bit.

Now if you are working a race at Road Atlanta, you don't have to look as much as listen. If someone goes off... you'll hear about it. That is a concrete jungle.

Still, you have to give the track credit. It has modernized, expanded it's offerings and kept alive through many years while others starved or disappeared. By changing the track config and distance, the "old track records" stay in tact and are a part of the legend and history. Good management, financial planning and a maintenance.. and those are still some beautiful rolling hills.

So strange seeing grass where the "pro pits" are now.

Yes, there were several Boss Laguna Seca's, and 1 or 2 Boss 302S's in the races. Great weekend. :-D

RE: Watch my terrible driving at Road Atlanta.
DE1 is 90% driver, 10% car
DE2 is 75% driver, 25% car
DE3 is 50/50
DE4 & TT starts to get towards 25/75 or better finally, same with racing. Even at that level it's still not too hard to find someone with more wallet than talent Lol

I'd give alot to be able to run the old T10 config for a couple sessions
