RE: EVENT UPDATE
Seems to me, since the time I was an active member with the CSCC, that Clemson University has been doing all it can to slowly squeeze us out. At this rate, by the time 2020 rolls around, autocrossing in Clemson is going to consist of driving one's car about three car lengths between two pairs of cones, and it'll cost the driver's $100 or more to enter. It's sad that such a fun and safe form of racing has to meet with an unjustified level of resistance.

I am sure it feels like that but ...let's be logical. If THAT were true, we would have never gotten ANY events back on campus. Regardless of mis-perceptions, what happened after we left the lot, there are things we could have done better and the school is still working with the CSCC BOD to work things out. Let's not "give up the ship" yet... the sport and CSCC club existed when there were NO lots and no events... to where there were events off campus (Fairgrounds) to back on campus. That occurred because people did not give up and walk away in frustration. Believe in the leaders you elected, the school you attend(ed) and work WITH the officers ... that has kept the club alive through tough times. If we want it bad enough... and willing to negotiate and work, we'll be back. As was stated during our long dry spell with NO events several years ago...."We are Clemson Sports Car Club Members because we love cars and motorsports.... NOT because we have autocrosses on campus ... " ; )
Hang in there and Merry Christmas.

Well I would agree with you but the proof is staring us right in the face. The previous PS administration put those bump stops in the stadium lot pretty much for us. "Oh sure you can have the lot back, just let us do some christmas break maintainance first..." [Image: de830728.gif]

RE: EVENT UPDATE
Again... those bumps were put up and then they later let us back on campus. We can't dote on what happened back then... different situation, different people and mostly different club members. They let us back on campus. I can't put into words how amazing that is... you just don't get sites back and the school was very gracious to do so. They are still providing funding, place to meet and recognizing us on campus. If they wanted us gone... we'd be long gone.

We have to accept some responsibility for the failure here and realize we did some things wrong, fix them and work to build a better relationship and structure so this does not happen again. This was not all DONE TO US... it's not the "white man trying to keep the racer man down." We can't play the "race" card here. (Along that line...we have GOT to stop using the word race. Autocross is not racing and is not helping the image. I'm talking to myself too.)

Part of that is giving back to the school and it's image. Toys for Tots is a GREAT start. Street Survival wouldn't be bad... there are others. It's important to give in order to get... if you take and don't give back, you won't get for long. The LOTS on campus were never for free... just non-monetary in compensation. We are a part of Clemson... and we owe some respect to the school and it's admin. That attitude will get us back and keep us able to grow in the future with their co-operation and help.
