Ok guys, so who's going? This is a fun event, especially with the competitive autox season winding down for most regions. I'll be there.

Do we drive BMW's cars or our own? I should be able to make it but I'm confused about the cars and when/if we are required to volunteer.

Registration and Schedule

I hate to sound completely ignorant, I am a freshman in fact haha, but on the registration form it said to enter my SCCA name and number of membership but I was never given any information about this even though i joined the club. Do i need to join SCCA separately?

RE: SCR SCCA BMW Autox 10/16
No problem man... we all started somewhere! ; ) Glad to have you on board.

Clemson Sports Car Club and SCCA are two separate clubs. Central Carolinas Region of SCCA covers Western NC over to Charlotte, Upstate down to Columbia and over to Aiken. SCCA South Carolina Region covers Columbia to Myrtle Beach and Charleston to Savannah.

You are not required to join SCCA to be able to run the SCCA autocross at BMW BUT to be covered by SCCA insurance at the event, they will sell you a "Weekend Membership" at registration. On Motorsreg.com, you should click on WEEKEND MEMBERSHIP. Don't sweat it... call me if you run into any problem. (864) 915-5052

RE: SCR SCCA BMW Autox 10/16
I know this is alot of info at once, don't be afraid to ask more questions.

This event is run by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA), NOT Clemson Sports Car Club (CSCC). In order to participate in an SCCA event you must have a membership, for insurance purposes. There are 2 types of SCCA memberships, yearly and weekend. Yearly membership is $45 if you're under 24, I'm assuming you are, and it is good for a year from the time you apply. Click here for application and info. I applied in March 2011, so I'm good til March 2012. SCCA will send you a membership card and number which you then use to register online and show at SCCA events to get the member rate. Non-member rate is because you have to sign a weekend membership. Weekend membership is just that, it is good for just one weekend and they are normally $10 per weekend.

All that said, SCCA has a great deal for your first event. Sign a yearly membership and the first event is free, no entry fee. Also, if you PM me I will give you my member number as a reference and you save another $15.
**first event doesn't necessarily mean your first event ever, just the first event you do after signing a yearly membership**

3 Scenerios:
1) Register for this event as a non-member with a weekend membership - $45
2) Sign a yearly membership and get the entry fee for this event waived - $45
3) Sign a yearly membership, no entry fee, and $15 credit for reference - $30

Don't worry if you don't want to commit to a yearly mem. for this first event. Pay the non-member/weekend $45 and have fun at the event and get acquainted. If you like the SCCA and Solo and want to join, sign a yearly membership at the second event. The application "reimburses" $15 for previous weekend memberships (up to 60 days). You could actually save even more if you wait til the second or third SCCA event to commit.

Other notes on application if you decide to sign a yearly membership:
-SCCA calls autocrossing "Solo"
-They ask for a home region, you might want to do some research here to determine what region you want to call home. I am in Central Carolinas Region which covers the upstate of SC. You may want a region closer to your hometown. Ultimately, it doesn't matter what you choose, the membership is good nationwide not just the region you pick. Click here for regions (links to region websites on that page too)
-Register online for the event with payment method as "On Site" (you will have to choose the weekend mem. option to register)
-Bring the application to your first event and give it to the registration people at the event and tell them you're signing up for full membership. (If you don't feel comfortable filling out the application on your own, they will help you at the event)
-Bring cash in the amount due for membership to that event
-Then have FUN!

^I say do what Ted says and register as a non-member with a weekend membership and forget about all the other stuff. Figure out the yearly membership stuff later, comes out cheaper to do it that way anyway.

Sorry for all the info, just wanted you (and anyone else reading) to be informed.
