EUROFEST VOLUNTEERS NEEDED SATURDAY!
BMW allows SCCA to use their parking lots for our autocrosses on Sunday each year after Eurofest in return for our contributions to the event on Saturday. Our contribution is having a special SCCA award (given to the race car shown that best illustrates the spirit of competition) and handling the arrive n drive at the BMW Performance Center! This is my 5th year working with the event and it is one AWESOME show. Marques this year are Sprite / Midget and Jaguar XKEs. But you will still see many exotics from Ferraris, Panteras, Lambos... best European car show in the Southeast!!!

For a $30 contribution to Red Cross Upstate Disaster Relief, anyone can come to the BMW performance center and get in a newer model BMW and run one of 4 events:

1) Wet & Dry Timed Competition: This event will use the "SKID PAD" and go from dry to wet and back to dry again. It will incorporate a salaam and go from asphalt to polished concrete. It is a "timed event".

2) Rat Race: This event will pit two cars "head to head" on an oval track in wet driving conditions with the traction control turned off. It is a "timed event"

3) Off Road: This event will allow the participants to drive an X5 on the off road course with varying terrain and a river crossing conditions.

4.) Arrive n Drive AX : SCCA volunteers coordinate 3 runs on a timed short autocross in newer model BMWs on an asphalt course on the far right of the Performance Center area.

This year's event we will need volunteers to help with timing, shagging pylons, running grid, helping people getting in cars and taking tickets for the Arrive n Drive. We will have two shifts... one from 9 to 12 and one from 12 to 4. As a thanks to workers, you will get free runs on the AX course in the BMWs. How many runs depends on time but usually, we have our own little competition. Wink

I need to know who will come and which shift you will work. This is a small price to pay for a good autocross site and a good cause...one we all hope we never need. Please volunteer. I will respond with an email confirming your shift and where to meet AND I will print out who is working when on this forum post... we only have so many openings so let me know as soon as you can. By working half days, you will still have time to enjoy Eurofest cars and the show. Thanks! Ted

Understeer is when you hit the mountain with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the mountain with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the mountain, torque is how far you move the mountain.

RE: EUROFEST VOLUNTEERS NEEDED SATURDAY!
IF you are interested, please email me with name, shift you'd like to work so I have your email address. Then I will email you back as soon as you are confirmed to work with all details and when to meet, etc.

Luke... Eurofest is free but they do ask for a donation to Red Cross to go in and look at cars in grass in front of BWM Zentrum ($5.00 to $10 if you can... if you have no money, they won't stop you from coming in. it's donations).

IF you work the autocross event shift, you get to drive the cars for free on the autocross. If you want to run the other events,... yep. $30 each. They are fun though... I've done them all several times. Good bang for bucks!

RE: EUROFEST VOLUNTEERS NEEDED SATURDAY!
I'm a carless freshman but would love to work the morning shift. If anyone would be going from Clemson to the event that morning and could give me a ride, that would be wonderful!

RE: EUROFEST VOLUNTEERS NEEDED SATURDAY!
THANK YOU to those who have already volunteered! We still need some additional workers for afternoon shift. Please email me if you are available. We are getting to run the autocross Sunday at BMW on their lots because of the money we raise for Red Cross Disaster Relief by helping manage the Arrive n Drive on Saturday. Thanks!

Still need a few more for morning session. You want free runs in a BMW... be there at Performance Center at 8 AM. Thanks to all the Clemson Club guys and gals that volunteered. I REALLY appreciate it.

Did the morning shift. I must say, it was well worth it. Got to drive the 135i(w/ traction control on blech), a 650i on the skid pad, and an X3 through some impressively rough stuff. If you get a chance to work it next year, def. do it. I sure will.
