yea i had that same thought too but i guess it's minimal. perhaps it created more turbulence if mounted that way since the air flow directly behind the wing is important to. all i could find in this article is " 'Swan wing' mounts provide more surface area beneath the wing, improving downforce."

I think the porsche way is best.

(uprights on the sides. so that it doesnt interupt flow and keeps it in the plane of the wing.
