Meeting Minutes 9/28/11
Hello again!
Since most members in attendance this week were new, Steve went over what autocross is and what to expect at your first event. If there are any questions regarding our events and how they are run, any of the officers will be glad to answer. We appreciate everyone's patience as we try to sort out some dates for autocrosses this semester. We apologize that we have not been able to hold an event yet, however we are making progress. We have finally gotten a scheduled meeting with Parking Services for this coming Friday to discuss dates. In the meantime if something should fall through with holding an event at Clemson, we are working with AU to hold an event there. The tentative date for out first even this semester is October 22. Despite our late start in getting events going we are still planning on holding 3-4 events this semester. Keep checking forums for updates!! The club has recently gotten a very generous donation of several sets of tires for our beloved club car, CC1. The officers are planning on taking CC1 to the autocross at BMW the weekend of fall break. Saturday October 15th is Eurofest where there will be a huge display of awesome cars, new and old. Sunday the 16th will be the autocross. We would love for many of our members to be in attendance. This is also a great event if you have never autocrossed before. The course is always a blast and the organizers are very "newb friendly". Event page is HERE Our third round of Car Trivia awarded the winner with a CCSC sticker or the $40 cash prize for a perfect score. Stephen Perea walked away victorious with the sticker...Cash prize is still up for grabs!! See ya next Wednesday(10/5) for our dinner meet. Location will be announced on Monday. See you again the following Wednesday(10/12) for our next on campus meeting. Come and try your luck at the $40 prize!! |

RE: Meeting Minutes 9/28/11
I have been on the Steering Committee and Board for Eurofest for 4 years. You will not find a show with a larger selection of European cars in the Southeast. You will see Ferraris, Maseratis, Lambos, vintage, racers... wide range. This is also a Charity event for American Red Cross Disaster Relief of the Upstate. I had a friend that lost her home to fire 5 years ago... lost EVERYTHING... pictures of mom and dad that had passed, all furniture, clothes... gone. Red Cross was there with clothes, counseling, financial assistance THAT NIGHT. GREAT organization that I hope you never need. Entry to event is a donation... but not defined.. you give what you can.$3 or $5 or nothing. Honored marques are MG Midget/Austin Healey Sprite and the Jaquar XKE.
There are also Arrive n Drive events at the Performance center. You can pay a fee and drive newer BMW cars on their test track for a price. They have wet pad events, tight course, long oval and a short autocross on the far that SCCA mans and runs each year. In return for us setting up, running the autocross and tracking times and shagging pylons, BMW provides us BMW cars and allows us to use the lot for an autocross sunday at main facility.. They also let volunteers who come to work the arrive n drive free runs on the autocross course. If you would like to volunteer for morning or afternoon on saturday, let me know soon... I need 6 for morning and 6 for afternoon. You'll get 4-6 runs ... maybe more depending on crowd. THANKS! Come Saturday to look at show, work the arrive n drive and THEN... come Sunday for the Autocross. Hope to see you there! Thanks Ted editor@thesoutherndriver.com Ted E. RE: Meeting Minutes 9/28/11
Wishful thinking... The autox will be in the same lot where the mini autox is held on Saturday. In this case however, the course will take up the mini autox area and the area down further.
