Fastest Street Car in America.....For now

Here is Larry Larson's 67 nova that Hot Rod has proclaimed the Fastest Street Car in America, 3 years running. However, several people are out to get him, and this year's drag week should be interesting.

This car is part of the Unlimited class. It's a full tube frame car that's caged to spec for the times it runs. It's got a twin turbo big block. It's got a lenco transmission. It has huge e.t. streets out back. And the man drives the car everywhere with no overheating, no drama, no worries. In drag week you are not allowed chase vehicles, but trailers are kosher, like the 'bird in the other thread. Larson runs the car as it is. no trailer, no tire swaps, nothin. It's proven 1500 miles of street driving each year at dragweek and plenty more in the "off season". It might not be an original nova, but its def more street car than a lot of 10 second cars.

I love that thing. He's awesome for driving as much as he does. They are going to have a 6 sec avg for the winner this year I have no doubt

I can't wait. I want to do that event, as well as Power Tour, so badly. There has been a 4cyl mustang on drag week even! John Huber's 4cyl stang has been one of the fastest cars with the smallest engines. Mid 9s on a stock block!! Mind you, it's a stroker, has extensive head work, a big cam and a HUGE turbo. He pulls the wheels well past the 60 foot marker every pass, and averages 19-20 mpg even with a huge stall converter. I love it.

^I remember reading about that car! I think my favorite was the guy with the Cuda that runs in the NA class and just has a standard 5 speed. He is awesomely consistent with his passes and that orange thing is awesome.
