Freshman from sunny San Diego
Hello everyone,

I'm an incoming freshman starting in the fall. I went to high school in Southern California and started autocrossing and road racing down there. I started autocrossing the family Mini Cooper with my dad, and eventually moved up to track days from that. From there we got bit with the LeMons bug and ran a crappy Alfa Romeo Alfetta in all sorts of autocross and track events, as well as two endurance races. I plan to do SAE at Clemson and hopefully get a car eventually to work on NASA HPDE events. I'm currently thinking about a Miata, but who knows. CSCC looks really sweet and I cant wait to see you all in the fall!

Oh, almost forgot to ask. If anyone has a car that they would be willing to sell me a seat in, I'm light on tires and more than happy to throw a bit of cash your way Smile

RE: Freshman from sunny San Diego
welcome! love the alfa. there are plenty of people who might need a co-driver, but if you become a member, you can always run the club car, a first-gen rx-7. it's not the the fastest, but very fun and a great way to compete against several other drivers in the same vehicle.

Welcome! You've come to the right place if you want to get involved with NASA, quite a few Clemson students/alums are involved with the SE region!

+1 for driving the club RX7 - there isn't anything more "spec" and "all about the driver" than putting a bunch of people through the same car Smile

also, it rains here, so you'll have to get used to that. often without warning.

RE: Freshman from sunny San Diego
Thanks for the warm welcome! The guy I buy all my gear from down here is a huge RX-7 nerd, he's been trying to get me to join the rotary cult for a while. Using the club car sounds great while I get settled in and look for a car. As far as finding one down there, where should I search? I would assume Columbia Craigslist, but is Atlanta too far to be looking?

RE: Freshman from sunny San Diego
Atlanta is only a ~2hr drive from campus, not out of reach imho. I'd add Charlotte as well, similar distance.
