Friday drags and Fast Five
A group of us were meeting up at Bi-Lo tomorrow afternoon around 4 to head to a test and tune night at Atlanta Dragway. Then we are going to try and make it to a late showing of Fast Five, the new Fast and Furious movie. If anyone wants to join either get to Bi-Lo on 93 on time tomorrow or let me know. Should be a good time so if you want to do some dragging this will be a blast!

RE: Friday drags and Fast Five
so how did the drag strip go for everyone? definitely would have gone but the gfs parents were in town and it was either spend a bunch of money drag racing or get free food and i chose the free food. Lol

also how was fast5? worth the money to see it?

Drags were awesome. Chris ( srt8 Cherokee ) ran a best of 13.1 and I ran a best of 12.3. Not sure what everyone else's bests were...

Fast Five was worth the money IMO.

RE: Friday drags and Fast Five
Notables: Consistent ~100mph trap speeds, 2.163 best 60' time, 14.399 best 1/4 time.

If you're interested, analyze the snot out of my time slips. For those of you that don't know, I'm driving an 04 GTO, stock 5.7L LS1, 6 speed T56 tranny, and super cheap Nankang NS-1 tires (which apparently aren't even made anymore, I tried to look them up on their website...) I don't know what I was actually feeling, but I felt on every run that I was never completely hooking in 1st, spinning a good bit going into second, and chirping 3rd. I ran with traction control on on all but the 1st run, the wheel hop was so bad and I didn't want to try to figure out how to get rid of it.

This was my first trip to the strip and it definitely won't be my last. I had loads of fun and loved seeing all the cars out there. Steve, there at least 3 current-gen Mustangs with superchargers... One Procharged, one with a beautiful Kenne Belle, and one with a factory Kenne Belle... on a GT500

My clutch is starting to slip pretty bad and im trying to make it home on this one it so i had to skip on this one.

Saw Fast Five yesterday though and I really enjoyed it. The chargers and vault scene was absolutely ridiculous. SOOO much destruction. ha

John, that's an EPIC time at ATL thumbsup I can't believe Chris's Jeep wasn't faster......I went and saw Fast Five with my roommates Friday. 20 mins in, I thought "This is going to suck!" The whole train thing was a load. DO WANT THAT GT40 from train.....but.....as soon as they got to Brazil, the movie became awesome! Big Grin I loved the Rock in there. He was terrifyingly massive in this movie. I was waiting for him to challenge Vin to a cage match Lol

RE: Friday drags and Fast Five
Mike you gotta work on that reaction time Tongue That's the one thing I did well at when I went last, had consistent .020 - .070 reactions. The turdstang trapped ~95-96.

RE: Friday drags and Fast Five
Mike if you are going to run reguarly, look at some DR to bring down the 60' and better traction. My last set were stolen, and until I break down and buy some I will not do the drag strip...... 1st gear wheel spin and a snap on 2nd that will yank it sideways with street tires and that was 75 rwhp ago.

Its a test and tune...not bracket racing. Most of us were making sure not to redlight and focusing more on the launch rpm than reaction time. It is not included in the overall time anyway.

I had 5 runs overall. Here are my best 3:

1st and best run of the day:
60' - 1.927
1/8 - 8.03
...mph - 91.62
1/4 - 12.36
...mph - 116.01

60' - 2.112
1/8 - 8.319
...mph - 90.82
1/4 - 12.694
...mph - 113.16

60' - 2.080
1/8 - 8.371
...mph - 89.04
1/4 - 12.819
...mph - 112.88

I need an intercooler to keep heat soak to a minimum, which I believe caused my mph to go down so much. I never hooked as well as my first run so that didn't help either. I am uploading the videos of my second and third from above so I will post up those when they are done. Overall my this was the best time I have had at Atlanta Dragway Smile, it is usually a very frustrating track with 1wd...

If you don't spin, you don't wheel hop, right? That's what I've been told. So not only will that help with hooking, 60', and all that good stuff, but I can give it more right foot without shaking the daylights out of the rear end? Then again, I've also been told automatics don't wheelhop like the M6's do, but I'm always wanting to learn more.

Tyler... Yes. I do need to work on that. An old dude (with a Procharged 'stang) told me to go on the last yellow, but I think I ended up focusing a little more on not wheelhopping or bogging. As much as we tease for that live axle...

RE: Friday drags and Fast Five
unless you are planning to go to a competition, or worried about the car in the other lane beating you to the end, don't worry about your reaction times.
those are much easier to fix than tirespin/launch issues.

I know how the GTO's are horrible about it, but wheelhop can also come with from stunning the drivetrain and tires.

Rauq, your theoretical best time is roughly 14.08

When you get ready for some help let me know.
Red GTO at Greer (1/8th) went 94MPH with no wheel hop on slicks.
We can work on the suspension and the tuning and what ever other stuff you might want.

That actually goes for anyone on here. Straight line or turns: I love it all and will help you out.

BTW-F5 was awesome!
