Chasing the dragon hillclimb - June 11-12
The Central Carolinas Region of SCCA is proud to announce
a new hillclimb site
and a new hillclimb event
to be run June 11th and 12th this year.

Take a DEEP BREATH and hold it before you read this…
INTRODUCING…..

Chasing the Dragon Hillclimb – Robbinsville, NC

• 2.2 Miles long course near the famous Tail of the Dragon with over 1000 feet of elevation
• a great mix of blind sweepers and straights in some of North Carolina’s most beautiful forests
• waterfalls next to start line and a scenic overlook deck at top
• “formula car” friendly but grippy asphalt with no potholes or uneven surfaces
• guard rails and earth walls from start to finish
• likely the largest group of spectators at a hillclimb in years!

Drivers – Registration will open soon. Records available but only one per class
Courseworkers – Free accommodations and food. Sign up soon!
Spectators – welcome at no charge
More information to follow at http://www.ccrscca.com

Why did we ask you to hold your breath?
Because if you held your breath as long as you can, you’re not even half way up THIS course!

Come grab the dragon by the tail!

Understeer is when you hit the mountain with the front of the car and oversteer is when you hit the mountain with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the mountain, torque is how far you move the mountain.

if this is referring to the stretch from the dam up to the tree of shame, this is an awesome little stretch of road.

What section of the road is this?
Is it still US 129?

2.2 miles from the gas station puts you into Tennessee.

I wasn't aware that they had guard rails anywhere near that length on the road.

Sounds like it'd be fun watch people drive/wreck.

Holy crap this is going to be epic. I hope people don't get hurt though since the Dragon isn't easy to tame.

This course is unbelievable... it very fast (cars will break 100 in several spots but it has 20 turns and several straights. The turns are mostly smooth sweepers... just takes some balls to hold the pedal down around a blind corner. The guard rails and earth walls are about as safe a course as you will find anywhere. I had great concerns going in to this but the SCCA officials came, did a study and approved it. I can't wait!

Ok thats good they chose a section of road that has plenty of guard rails and things to prevent cars going off the mountain. Cause I hear about that all the time on that road.
