I really need to get off the internet.....every time I get on, I see something that makes me want to have a Boss even if that means selling both my cars and possibly a kidney or lung

RE: The Boss 302 is stalking me....
Just realized that these things redline at 7500RPM O.O
Say what you will about American technology, but that's a production 5.0L V8 that makes peak power at 7500RPM. In a Mustang. Sell both, aquire Boss 302. You won't regret it. You can only drive one car at a time anyways

What's the difference between a stock GT 5.0 and the Boss 302? Just suspension and lightening? Engine's the same, right?

RE: The Boss 302 is stalking me....
So it really is like the old Trans-Am series racers...? With the release of the new Camaro (that was supposed to be a Z28 but ended up as a ZL1), there's speculation that there's going to be a real Z28 model coming out as well, the original Boss 302's rival (GM fanboi here in case you haven't picked up on that already).
Goodness I'd love a new 5.0 Mustang though... A V8 revving that high will always sound amazing IMHO, and make decent power at a minimum. Honestly I don't know how they can fire back with a Camaro competitive to the Boss 302. Without a doubt, GM fanbois will be all up in arms if a Z28 powerplant has more than one cam, and it's a whole lot harder to get an OHV engine to rev as high as an OHC, and impossible to do it for the same price. Still, I like the idea of a RACE car being STRIPPED. A stock M3 or 5.0 GT are great cars, but right now the Boss 302 is like THE ONLY way to go if you actually want a stripped car from the factory. Too bad it has to cost extra though... I love the idea of race-stripped factory cars. If you could buy a 5.0 Mustang or an M3 or a Camaro or a Challenger without A/C, heater, stereo, sound deadening, or even rear seats, *that didn't cost way more than the car from whence it came*, I'd be all over that. Porsche has done that forever- charging more to take things out of the car, and now Ford's doing it too. At the very least, I would hope that an amenities-delete would offset the cost of nicer springs, shocks, valvetrain, etc. People would whine and cry about devaluing the Boss 302/Z28/Challenger T/A names, but I really think that the barebones-ness of the car would keep it from turning into the hairdresser car. /rant That was fairly on-topic, right? RE: The Boss 302 is stalking me....
Check out the 1993, 1995 and 2000 Mustang Cobra R
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Mustang_SVT_CobraAlso, the 2012 Boss 302 Laguna Seca has "ditches the rear seat and some creature comforts while additionally stiffening the body and suspension, and carrying over the aerodynamics package from the Ford Racing Boss 302R almost unchanged." Good luck finding one for a decent price though. The Hyundai Genesis Coupe Spec-R is kind of similar... Cheaper than the regular Genesis, but with "track tuned" suspension, brembo package, torsen LSD and summer tires. Also has the turbo 2.0L based on the Evo motor. Edit: Sorry, just read Motor Trend's 2000 Cobra R review. Makes me want one extremely bad, and definitely solidifying my Ford fanboyism A factory Mustang that can out-accelerate and out-handle a Corvette? Yes please.

RE: The Boss 302 is stalking me....
2000 Cobra R is full of win. Only thing was price at the time... And they're probably still crazy expensive with that limited production run. Genesis Coupe Spec-R is close... Just goes to show how much Hyundai has been doing right lately.
Alls I want is regular V8 muscle car: -A/C -heat -stereo -rear seats -sound deadening -electronic frills -weight +brakes +suspension +engine (maybe) same price. Boss 302 hits all of those except the last one, Genesis Coupe Spec R is missing the V8 that I love. Steve, how do you like that dual-mode exhaust with the side pipes? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PXyfYEBgRg Hi. I like V8s. It's a sleeper.Everyone knows blue cars are the fastest. RE: The Boss 302 is stalking me....
I like the Boss a lot, I am just having issues justifying the cast in my head. I wanna go fast in the miata so the cheaper of a daily driver I can get away with the more I have for the miata. It sux being in the real world.
Either way I love the new Boss and I hope they sell a ton, because it is an awesome car. ![]() RE-11's "Off the shelf" suspension DIYPNP megasquirt Exhaust + Launch Control = GOOOOOD http://www.DDMWorks.com |

I had an offer last year to trade my Shelby and 1969 for a 2011 GT500 with the Performance Pack and had I driven that car I may have taken it. I'm sure once I drive a Boss, I will have more of a dilemma ![]() (02-23-2011 12:10 AM)Mr.Rauq Wrote: Steve, how do you like that dual-mode exhaust with the side pipes? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PXyfYEBgRg I think it's a wild idea. I love how Ford has money to spend on silly things that add to the fun of the car now. That "Resonace Tube" under the hood that channels engine noise into the cabin in the 2010 and newer cars is a silly thing that works as advertised and is awesome. The quad exhaust has a plate that's bolted that could just "happen to fall out and be replaced by a dump valve" according to their engineers

As if switchable side pipes weren't awesome enough as it is. And is this resonance tube what I've heard about where it can simply be removed or unplugged, something along those lines, and you get a noticeable volume increase? It's really a shame as a GM fanboy that the only answer to the Mustang (Camaro SS, obviously) is so ugly, bloated, slightly heavier (400 lbs on the 'stang), cramped... and generally undesirable. It really does strike me as the straight line car to the Mustang's track ability. I'd take a 5.0 Mustang in any trim over a Camaro SS. What other fancy Mustang features am I unaware of? RE: The Boss 302 is stalking me....
Another Ford and Mustang fanboy here. I absolutely love that Ford decided to do the Boss again after the awful, despicable Mustang II boss, and do it the right way. But, my favorite part is that they took it to another level with the Laguna Seca edition. I actually saw and sat in one at the Int. Autoshow in Greenville. It is AWESOME!!! There are two things I wish I could change though:
1) That the color scheme looked like this and not the stupid red crap: ![]() 2) That the intake wasn't a piece of plastic, but cast aluminum like the aforementioned 2000 SVT cobra. Or, something like the 5.0 "Cammer" intake that's been out for a few years. Anyway, I hope Chevy and Dodge respond with similar cars in the same way they did in the late 60's. The new ZL1 with the LSA and the SRT with its 6.4 Hemi are pretty cool, but it would be incredible to see lighten versions with 5.0ish liter high revving motors again, like the Z/28 and T/A. In the mean time, I am quite enjoying watching Grand-Am who's bringing back the Trans-Am days! At the end of the day though, for me, the new Boss will never win my heart over a late 60s or early 70s "Hi-Po" Mustang...fix up the '69 Steve! The exhaust isn't a factory "cutout", but it's got a plate to limit the noise coming out of the sides. That plate can be removed easily. The resonance tube is a filtered plastic tube that goes from the intake to the firewall. It won't make it louder to take it off I don't think. The Camaro and the Challenger have the same problem: they were both built of of lightly modified platforms that they share with a lot of big sedans. The bones under the current SN197 are from the Lincoln LS, but are MASSIVELY modified and are not shared with any other vehicles. It was a platform designed from the ground up to be the next Mustang. Were the Challenger about 300-400 lbs lighter..........I'd be MOARHEMIROAR on here
