Intro to DriverOne
Thought I'd introduce myself, and there's a thread to do it, so hello! I'm 28, a professional driver, and I own a 1988 Ford Festiva. I'm also known as DriverOne on http://www.fordfestiva.com, and I have been an active member there for around two years. I've been working on mods to my Festiva since I bought it in August of '09, including an "Aspire swap" which does exactly that - Swaps over the brakes, axles, knuckles, hubs, rear struts and springs, front sway bar, and BMC. All parts are intended for a larger vehicle, so I assume that would be considered a big brake upgrade. Since the swap necessitates a different lug pattern, I sourced some Enkei stock wheels in the gold mesh/polished lip form from a 1994 Toyota Corolla, which takes me from a 12x4" wheel to a 14x6.5" wheel, while not increasing weight by much. Tires are Toyo Proxes T1-R's in 195/45 R14, and while the stock (and carbed) 1.3L engine and stock 5-speed currently reside below the hood, the transmission is now a paperweight because of axle binding, and I'll be replacing those with the parts from either a Mercury Capri XR2, Ford Escort GT, or Kia Sephia, whichever becomes available first. I live just outside of Clemson, so you may have seen me running around. I've just recently rediscovered CSCC, and I hope I may be able to try some autocross action. My previous car was always a project, and long story short, I don't have it anymore; a 1986 Chrysler Conquest TSi. I find myself wishing for that car often, but that's the past, so I smile, and enjoy this:

RE: Intro to DriverOne
Welcome! We just finished with finals so it might be a little slow around here for a while but things will pick back up once next semester starts.

Welcome! Interesting current race car you have there, I'm sure I will be embarassed on the autocross course after saying that lol.

Any old pics of the Conquest? Theres a special place in my heart for those cars...probably the only modern Chrysler I'm partial to

The Festivas are surprising, I assure you, especially the turbo'd and 1.8L+ cars. There's a member on FordFestiva.com that has a KL-ZE V6 under his hood and you'd never know it until he started it up. He's working on turbo upgrades as well. Look up ShadowracerTSi on cardomain for pics of my cars. They're not pretty, but the 86 had a Jasper built, balanced & blueprinted G54B. I sold them for $1K when my wife and I went through major financial ruin. I believe my old account is still there... As far as what I drive professionally, for now my limit is semi trucks, but don't count me short, because one of my goals in life is to have a license for every vehicle out there. Not saying it's going to happen, but I'll sure try!

Welcome! I remember wanting a Conquest in the late 80's really badly. I ended up trading my fox-body Mustang for an '87 Nissan Pulsar instead.

Shockdunno The car that even Nissan forgot... I'm sorry. Did you enjoy it, at least? I heard that in their hayday that you could motor swap the Sentra engines and still upgrade parts...
