Brake pads.
So my brake pads are shot and I need new ones. Nobody local has any in stock. I need something low dust but still gives good bite. I trust Z1 so : http://www.z1motorsports.com/index.php?c...=6a&page=2

I feel stupid having to ask, but I've never bought pads for my car before. My dad got them last time, and that was 4 years ago.

RE: Brake pads.
What is your question?
I will price you a set of brake pads if you give me the part numbers you want.
usually can be in your hands within 3 days.

From what I've been told by racers at CMP, Carbotechs have good bite. They are relatively soft though, so they will wear quickly. This is good though, because they don't chew your rotors like Hawks do. The guy ran a 02 ZO6 and he said he was getting around 6 pads worn for every rotor with the Carbotecha and around 3 to 1 for every Hawk. If your rotors are pretty cheap, Hawk HPs will last longer and give just as good bite.

i was gonna say what steve posted just above this^^ if your rotors are cheap (they may not be too bad on Z32's, i don't know) then Hawks are great but you will go through 2 or 3 sets of rotors before the pads wear out if you drive em hard. carbotechs are great for cars with expensive rotors because they were out much faster than the rotors because they don't chew them up.

RE: Brake pads.
brake pad recommendations are a VERY car specific thing. And even then, what is too loud/dusty/agressive/whatever to one person may not be to you - or it may be too much of that for your tastes.

If you're just doing autox and spirited driving I don't know if you'd really need a bottom-end track pad like the XP8, their street/autox blend might be fine (or the Hawk HP+ or HPS, or similar) - but this is only if your brake setup is sized adequately for the tires you're on, the weight of the car, the power it makes, and your driving style

RE: Brake pads.
I have stupidly thick steel rotors that are god knows how old, but they are still smooth and look like they have plenty of life left. I don't really drive hard that much, and I'm easy on brakes (hence going four years on one set of pads), so i just want something that has good bite, but long life. Don't really want hawks quite yet. I'm thinking:

unless someone's heard bad things.

RE: Brake pads.
Another thing is that you've already done the best thing you can do for braking by getting outrageously sticky tires like the Star Specs. If you haven't done so, get the super high temp brake fluid. It's the best thing I've done to my car. It helps keep them cool, which does more for brakes than just about anything.
