Meeting Minutes 9/9
September 9th, 2010

A few updates and a few changes:

Biweekly meets starting soon, with dinner meets off-campus at other places. As decided: 7pm Thursday at Tony’s Pizza will be our meeting place and time next week. Smile

Autocross Committee: We need people to join up and help out, because we now have…

ON-CAMPUS AUTOCROSSES!! Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin

In the R3 lot, in the commuter spaces, most specifically.

October 9th is our first Autocross, Registration will be open soon!! thumbsup

We will have guest speakers in the next few weeks: SCR-SCCA’s Ted Theodore, among others (Formula SAE, etc). These are people who can answer all of your potential questions, so stick around!

Advertising Committee: Needed for advertising our awesome new on-campus autocross!!! Library bridge advertising, etc will be needed in order to draw the crowds to our new and close autocrosses, so we can get students on campus to basically roll out of bed and come on over to our event. Big Grin

September 17th: Commerce Drag Strip!! A thread will be started soon for this, it’s the ¼ mile dragstrip in Commerce, GA (about 45 minutes away). $20 if you want to race, $10 if you’re just watching.

Possible “Scenic Drive” this Sunday, start a thread/check threads soon if you’re interested!!

RE: Meeting Minutes 9/9
Congratulations to the current officers for there hard work. Persistence is key and man did it pay off!

Hopefully now the younger guys will get to see a little bit of what most if not all of us alumni remember about the club... Waking up (usually hungover Wink ), rolling out of bed and walking the 5 minutes to a parking lot where we could pay 20-30 bucks to autocross and use a very fun and well setup Club Car. Maybe now we won't have to just say, "Man those were the days!".

Let me know if you guys need any help.

We really believe the biggest thing it boiled down to was a misunderstanding of what lot we actually wanted to use. Vanessa with parking services shot us down last year because she believed we were wanting to use a residential lot along with a commuter lot. Well we were sure to specifiy that we would ONLY be utilizing C-2 for the course, and she had absolutely no problem with that. I feel previous officers may have been trying just as hard to get us on campus, however didn't perfectly understand what Clemson's deal was...

PS understood perfectly clear what we wanted. i know that for a fact. (we had insiders.)
A "safety" officer also walked p3 with Gary Robinson as to what we needed to still safely autox.
A week later he put the speed bumps up exactly in the way so that we could not autox with in the safety precautions we had told him.
The lots they did offer us were completely inadequate for proper autoxing...

which reminds me, is it R3, P3, or C2? C2 is barely large enough...
P3 is where we used to autox and it was just large enough. R3 lot is nowhere NEAR large enough...

We also had summer events at c4/c5 but even then it wasnt the safest lot...

call me skeptical. But PS has fucked with us before.

RE: Meeting Minutes 9/9
Luke it is small but we just got back from looking at what we can do for a course and it will be tight, but it will still be safe.
