Top Fuel Dragging this weekend!
I have heard from many people that every car person should watch a top fuel drag race at least once in their lifetime. Well I agree so I figured we could make this a CSCC event (I think I even put it on the calender). This weekend Atlanta Dragway will hold the Lucas Oil Drag Series with includes top fuel, funny car, comp, and sportsmen events.
We have NO FOOTBALL this weekend so why not go watch a Top Fuel race on Saturday? AND ITS ONLY $20 DOLLARS!!! I'll go ahead and start the list for a caravan, just cut and paste your name it you want to come! And here is the flyer for you visual people lol: http://sportsman.nhra.com/2010/Flyer/24.jpg 1. RE: Top Fuel Dragging this weekend!
I'd go on Sunday since we play Presbyterian College on Saturday. This isn't something that I HAVE to go to, so don't change plans for me.
It looks like Saturday is just qualifying - Sunday is eliminations.

RE: Top Fuel Dragging this weekend!
Uhh.....we do have football....hahahah I would hope it wouldn't be much of a game. I agree it's something worth checking out. Are there any other weekends coming up? How about the next event at ZMax in Charlotte?

RE: Top Fuel Dragging this weekend!
Its only alcohol division cars! They still run low 5 second passes but they only have 3000 compared to the 8000 horse u can see in two weeks at zmax. If u want to see a real top fuel go to zmax in two weeks and watch em run in the mid to low 3s at 324

Awwww boo. I was looking at October football dates! Damn, oh well, maybe Sunday would be the best day to go then?
Yeah, its only 3000hp, but its a whole lot more than I have ever seen go down the quarter mile

RE: Top Fuel Dragging this weekend!
Nitro cars are what you really have to see, and they usually come to Commerce around May. I usually go on Friday for practice and qualifying, because everyone makes a run in the afternoon, and then again in the evening, and watching fuelers run under the lights is scwheeeeeeet

RE: Top Fuel Dragging this weekend!
Yea the nhra run the southern nationals the 2nd week in may. I mean the alcohol cars are still pretty sweet especially consider some of them run small converters in some and stall them up to 6800 to 7000 before leaving!! 3000 horse on a 10 inch converter is insane

RE: Top Fuel Dragging this weekend!
alcohol cars do scream that's for sure. i can't believe how they rev on the line, whereas top fuel cars are just sitting at idle right until that last amber light flashes.

RE: Top Fuel Dragging this weekend!
I got tickets to the nhra race in two weeks at zmax and I can't wait to see what times they put up during the night time session. Especially the Cunningham racing twin turbo pro mod. 902 cubic inch motor with twin turbos putting 60 psi of boost in 60 degree temps!!

RE: Top Fuel Dragging this weekend!
Damn!! I can't wait until NHRA updates their safety regs and they go back to racing the full 1/4 mile, not this 1000 feet BS. that still seems like a cheap fix to me.

RE: Top Fuel Dragging this weekend!
Yea especially when ihra cars are still running quarter at higher speeds with no deaths. I hate to tell the nhra but it isn't the cars its the tracks. You put a telephone pole at the end of any track and see what happens when u hit it at 280 plus. Chrome moly is tuff but not that tuff. Plus hard for a Hans device to help you when you go from 280 to 0 in less then a second. But if anybody has not been to zmax its the taj mahal of drag strips. I love racing there

RE: Top Fuel Dragging this weekend!
I like watching it all but the sportsman classes really get my blood flowing!! those guys are on limited budgets and that stuff is something I could race. I expect the big dogs to go 4s.....sportsmans going 10s and 9s on their stuff is what I like seeing!!!

RE: Top Fuel Dragging this weekend!
yea I have lots of respect for sportsman classes! Especially the 9.90 index class. If u have worse then a .016 rt u are one the trailer. But either way whatever u like I hope to see some of you at zmax.
