The last hillclimb of the year is coming up in a couple of weeks in Scottsboro, AL. TJ will be trying to defend his title and record run from last year in Elvira in CSP Class. A top ten finish will pretty much guarantee him a SCCA Southeastern Division Championship in CSP...the most competitive class in time trial. I am currently in second place in Specials Class in SCCA Southeast. The gentleman in first place is not running Crow and with that win, I will SEDIV Specials Championship for the year. This was TJ 's and my goal for this year to win father son championships in same year. First time since 1963.
My other goals were to run a Pennsylvania Hiilclimb which I did last month AND...to win a King of the Hill title at a Southeastern hillclimb before I retire. Twice last year, I finished second overall and one of those second places was last year at Crow Mtn. The guy who took King of the Hill beat me by 1.1 seconds. He had driven the hill several years and it was my first time. We've created the articulated wing and have dampered it for smooth operation. We have fixed clutch and tranny problems. I've learned a lot over the last year but enough? We'll see. I am running a wide open megaphone which will give a few more hp...and probably deafen several courseworkers.

The Video Trailer : http://drunkensubaru.org/images/zoom/VID...c_2006.wmv Yeah...chance of seeing some carnage is pretty strong. Two cars were totalled last year... record is 6. That's not including minor accidents or dropping wheels in ditches... totalled means end of weekend and removed from mountain by wrecker in pieces.
If anyone is interested in coming along and helping out, let me know. It's a 5 1/2 hour drive to Scottsboro, AL. We will be leaving friday, October 2nd around 1:30 PM in 2 vehicles and returning around 10 PM sunday night. In return for helping, you would get all food and hotel bed free. You'll probably get to drive or ride up the mountain at lunch time to see what it looks like or take a shuttle bus and camera and spectate anywhere you want. They put on quite a show down there and have a big driver worker dinner at night. Let me know if you are interested in going. It's usually foggy in the morning and scary as heck... especially with all the Alabama Pirates around. We'll have CSCC Paws on both cars. It's a dry county... so I am hoping there will be no rain.
Thanks. If you have never seen a hillclimb, you will enjoy it.
