So the most recent need for speed looks like it has taken a turn for the better. Great for me, since the nfs franchise is near to my heart (nfs 2 back in the ps1 days is what got me hooked on cars)

My brother just bought Need For Speed Shift. I'm waiting for him to hand it over. It seems like he'll never get bored of wrecking his Si into his opponents.

I'll give some more feedback later tonight once I've played the game.

Looks pretty good! I'm pleasantly surprised that they finally decided to go more towards simulation.
I'll have my review tomorrow most likely.
9 hours and 44 minutes left on the... install... O_o
Well, I've played about 30 minutes of it, and I'm not impressed. Somewhat disappointed actually. The feel of the game still feels more NFS-like, and not anything like a simulation. If you really push the car around a corner, the camera will move a bit to the side and the tail end kicks out. This is especially annoying when using a FWD car. Then there's the assists. There's braking and steering assists to help you get around the track, but it doesn't feel like you're in control of anything, until you take the time to find out how to turn them off. Then there's the settings for thing I don't know exist, such as "Steering Dead Zone" and "Acceleration Dead Zone."

I'm still not sure what to think about the game, though. I'll post up some more updates after a bit more gameplay.

I am thinking of renting it for PS3 to give it a try. My heart is still wanting for GT5. I hope it comes out in the beginning of December because I don't have any finals.
Arcade racing games are the best, why play a sim when I can drive my real car Tongue

Sorry Zach Lol

Anyway, I suppose the ads have been impressive, but it looks kinda like a ripoff of Grid. I suppose they'll let you modify your cars since it's NFS, but I can't imagine that the driving will any more fun than Grid's.

Says the guy who plays all his racing games with a keyboard still.
My mind has been somewhat changed. I've got all the controls worked out, and I'm now playing from inside the cockpit, where the game was meant to be played. It takes skill to master the track and make a good time, but not the same as Forza's or GT's. Pretty fun, and very easy achievements for 360 owners.

It's great. And logitech pretty much has a lifetime warranty on all their products - i sent my mouse back after using it for 3 years because the wheel broke and they replaced it for free (with an updated model, no less).
I tried to use an older gamepad for Grid, and it just didn't work right. Hey, it gives me an excuse to leave traction control and ABS on Lol
G25 FTW!!.

Also when it comes to playing a true sim, you can learn a lot about car control and being smooth. Try playing enthusia without being smooth, you won't even make it 1 lap.
It's just not the same as real driving though, no matter how good the sim is. Surely you would say that your autocross experience has helped you learn more about driving than a video game ever could.

Then again maybe you wouldn't, I don't know. Either way, video games are for fun, not learning Tongue
It isn't the same, but it is legal, and you get to drive a bunch of different kinds of cars.
I agree with robbie. Without actually being able to feel the car and the vibrations from the environment, its just not the same. Simulations are kind of disappointing for me. And I DO have a G25 Tongue
I am not saying it is the same, but you can learn about being smooth and learning a racing line from a game. I mean if it wasn't the same then I Racign wouldn't be as popular as it is.
