unless i missed something. Although it seems to filter out an upside down question mark. I'm still looking into that.

If you can get to it without using the alt key, I'm pretty sure it's fine. It's the other ones that mess it up.

The most common occurance is from the pasting of news articles from other websites.

Thelusiv attempted to fix this in the past. You even posted about it.

I gave up on it last year after talking with thelusiv on irc about it. He said he was going to handle it. But i'll look into it again.

I'm doing well, how about yourself? I did get the email but didn't get the chance to respond. I went through 3 hard drives recently and my laptop is broken. (typing this on one i borrowed from work) Somewhere in all that mess i forgot to respond and it go pushed off the front page of stuff to do. I'll look it up soon and respond

Hmm Dan? I want to say i saw him a couple months ago but was just walking around, nothing formal. It's been a long time since i've actually heard from him.

Best way to handle the problem is going to be a positive filter; only allow certain characters in, instead of trying to block other characters. Especially when you start dealing with non-ASCII typesets.

I suggest something like:

This is crude but eliminates non-standard characters.

Without seeing your source I can't help further.

I think the problem is they want to accept different characters, not strip them from the entry
