Hey guys,

I'm working at Carolina Motorsports Park all summer and doing random things for the management. One thing that they want me to do is get on forums and watch out for guys that are looking for track days and to just kind of get more people to know about the track. I'm still kind of new at all of this forum stuff, so I don't know about many of the forums out there. If ya'll could suggest some good ones that I could join or use or use ones you're on to tell people about the track it would be greatly appreciated. If anyone is planning on being here at the SCCA event this weekend, I'll be working corners and I hope to run into you at lunch or around the track this weekend.

Just a few suggestions on sites.

Check the "about us" page on here and look at the linked sites that I put on there. That includes SCR SCCA, CCR SCCA, Highlands Sports Car Club, and a few others.

Other sites I'd suggest:

Top Dead Center
Our forum of course
NASA-SE

I'm sure there are other ones, but those are the main ones that I think would generate the most interest. Unfortunately, track days isn't everyones thing and therefore you'll either get some initial interest, but much less follow through. Just get use to it, it's par for the course with anything. Stay on it! Network, network, network! Best way to get people interested is to hit them with more than one form of advertisement in my honest opinion. That means, forums, email, newsletter, flyers, newspaper etc....
Cool! Thanks. I'll be looking for the next couple of days and I'll try and find some interest. It seems that the main problem is that people don't know that CMP is around and only talk about Atlanta or VIR. There aren't any road courses in NC or TN and no others here, so I think people from there will be my focus. Hope to see you out here this summer Ross!
Another thing is that will probably get better response if you can be an active member of whatever the particular forum is. I know that's hard to do, but you might want to try and find a few forums that you could really get some response on and spend some time getting to know the members and becoming part of their community rather than another advertiser.
Thanks man. I'll be joining a few, definitely the SCCA forum. I've started with the Mustang forums since I have the cars and don't want to appear sketch. If you find a new forum or hear things about the track, I would really appreiciate it. We just want to get a feel for the general image of the track and what we can do to improve the image and track itself.
If your looking for specific thoughts, suggestions or opinions on the track from those that use it, plan on using it or are avid racers, I would suggest that you talk to the southeast scca and nasa guys. I know they both frequent that track and both SCR and NASA-SE directors are very easy to talk with and could give you suggestions and probably refer you to avid racers that might have suggestions as well. I'm not sure what other places you could go to, but as always, I would highly suggest getting to know the directors of any events that are put on at CMP.
CSCC and CMP should team up and have a track day Idea
A track day would be awesome, but just be aware that it is pricey. The insurance for the track requires that an ambulance and a fire vehicle be on call on location if ANY cars are on track at speed. If we can get 60 or even more to do it, I would love the idea of coming down. I have access to the schedules and know what days would work. If we build interest, I'll do all I can to help set that up!

While thats a great idea and I'm sure it'd be a lot of fun...we can't even get new CSCCers to come out to NASA track days and work a couple of events to drive for free....let alone get enough members to actually put their cars on track.
Hey Steve, Ted Theodore here.

I'll be Assistant Race Chair this weekend for the SCCA CCR Memorial Monster this weekend and I'll be running the SCR Time Trial on monday in the Hillclimb Special. It's a knife at a gun fight but should be some seat time in preparation for Eagle's Nest anyway. I'm even doing some experimentation with first prototype of the articualted rear wing. (It SHOULD lay flat at 75 MPH or there abouts.) wink Look forward to seeing you down there. Please introduce yourself.

There are a couple of other forums might be worth looking at... shoot me an email at tedagmar@juno.com

I am working on a possible track event for later this year... kind of a mixed club affair that should allow us close to 100 cars. THAT would make it possible to rent CMP. We have about 30+ SCCA SE Division members that received time trial licenses since Jan 1st and there's a good number still working on the their licenses. This would be a seat time and some instruction event but non-competitive. I'd like to run over that with you and let you bounce it off track management... might be a good way for racers to get some cheap seat time and guys new to track to get some safe experience. Thanks.
