I don't mean to completely thread jack, but I've got a question as well, and am hoping I can find an experienced answer.
Here are the symptoms: If I don't give my car any gas, am basically just cruising in neutral, the car goes straight, maybe slightly to the left. If I DO give it gas, or it's in a relatively low gear that's doing a lot of pulling/engine braking, it pulls HARD to the right.
This has been an absolute pain in the ass for highway driving. I believe this first started to happen once I got my new good tires swapped onto my old light wheels and my old tires swapped onto my new heavy wheels, and put the newer, heavier wheels on my car. At the time the problem wasn't bad, it just seemed to be a little off with the alignment to the right, but wasn't anything to flip out over.
When I swapped on my lighter wheels with my new Kuhmo Ecsta XS tires on thursday so that I'd be ready for the autocross at Carowinds(which was yesterday), the problem was far more prominent. Even in 6th gear, giving the car gas would require me to constantly have my hand on the wheel to adjust for the steering to the right.
My car is the 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V. Front wheel drive, with an LSD.
What could the problems possibly be? I find this to be an odd alignment issue, but I'm not sure if that would be the case. I was wondering if I didn't screw on the lug nuts tightly enough, but I kept checking and rechecking that, and it was completely fine. Is it possible that the wheels and tires aren't balanced, since the new tires were put on? They have little weights attached all along the inside of the wheels, but I'm not quite sure. It rides pretty smoothly, just not in the right direction.
I'm scared to think about it, but could the problem possibly be the differential? I'd hate to end up having to get a new LSD, that would be such a bitch, but I'll do it if necessary. Maybe a bent axle? I doubt it.
Someone experienced, please let me know what could possibly be the issue. This is seriously frustrating the hell out of me.
