Folks,
Anybody recommend a good alignment shop in the area? (I have to trailer the car there anyway, so Greenville, Anderson, Clemson whatever, I don't care)?
They need to be willing to talk to me and set up the car for VERY non-stock specs.
does Bryan still do alignments at Toyota?
I don't know if DDM works has the stuff to do spec E30's but I know they do miata's and others. I would definatly give them a call.
Tire Kingdom in Simpsonville (the one on Fairview Road) does all mine (our sponsor for hillclimb cars too!)...as well as Ron Wilcox's Lotus Elise and Jeremy Cox's Miata and Per Olaf's National prepped Mini.
I would not recommend ALL Tire Kingdoms but that one I can. They let you set in the car and dial in what you want... they give you a computer read out before and after and the guys LOVE working on race cars. One of them runs Greenville Pickens Speedway.
If you want it stock, no problem. If you want specific settings, write it out and tell them what you want. Don't go in and say "I want more this or more that... what do you think I need."
Tell them Ted sent you and they'll do you right. The 3 year alignment plan is nice if you are dialing in a suspension. I had them change mine 6 times in a few weeks and they were glad to help each time.
Just FYI, I'm under the impression that setting up the E30 rear with offset bushings is a pain, so wherever you go you might want to ask if they've had experience or are at least willing to learn.
I threw mine in and checked with my homebuilt instruments, it wasn't hugely out-of-whack so I didn't worry about it. If you're after precision it might take longer, I'll probably spend more time on mine when I start worrying about competing.
Checker Lube in Seneca atr least they used to do good custom jobs
also if you're willing to go to Atlanta early on thurs, Butler Tire in Alpherita, they do A LOT of bmw work, and SE30's
I got my last one at Checker Lube in Seneca and they let you adjust it however you want. Pretty good prices too.

Spelled Alpharetta if you need to get there, I live literally 2 miles from that Butler Tire. The road it's off of is called Jones Bridge Road. Good stuff. :-)

Checker Lube in Seneca has always done a good job for me (they do all my tires) so I like them. But I am going to try the eccentric bushings (as Sean mentioned) to try to correct some rear toe issues. So Ted, I may try the Simpsonville place since they're used to race cars. I do have my exact specs so I can tell them what I want.
But thanks to everybody for all the good info - I'll let you know how it turns out.
Have you tried Tom Teel?
He does alignments, I'm sure he could align it to whatever you want

and since the parents moved back to Atlanta in '02 i have yet to spend more then 6 weeks in atlanta at one time, so "from" is a lose term, but i still call it home
It might be a ways off, but Bolton James in Spartanburg does good work. They are not particularly cheap, but good isn't.
