What's up guys my names Trey... i met a few of you guys at the organization fair but to tell you the truth I'm pretty terrible with names so it may take awhile. oh and I'm a freshman btw.

I've got a 2005 WRX with tons of mods and have done a few autocrosses before and definitely looking forward to doing some more with you guys...

i just got tuned in Atlanta at forged performance last Saturday on my new turbo (blouch 16g-xt) and made some really awesome numbers. i don't know if any of you guys are familiar with forged but their dyno is called the "heart-breaker" because it reads so low... so my 280whp would be at least 300whp on a mustang and probably 3000whp on a dynojet Lol

if anyone has any questions about my car and the mods, or Subaru's in general, I know my stuff pretty well and would be happy to help.

here's the graph

Finally I get to see the car you were talking about! Looks good man, always love the blue/gold combo on 'rexs. Looking forward to seeing that thing tear up some tarmac at the autocrosses!
I remember you at the organizations fair, you've got yourself a good looking car. Smile And I'm familiar with Forged Performance; mainly Sharif's R35 GT-R that he Time Trials with NASA all over the place. It's quite a powerful and quick car. I'm familiar with the Atlanta area, the Top Speed shop is very close to where I'm from.

Awesome autocross picture, btw. I hope to see you out there, as well as at our first meeting. Big Grin
Nice car man. Glad to see you made it to the site. Hope to see you on Wednesday!

As an aside... Now I really need to get boost... Being outrun by freshmen >.< Where's my kenne bell?!

DOOO IT DOOO IT
Welcome to the club.

Take your car to Doug at Topspeed next time you need a tune, or take it there right now, Forged Performance is not a place that you want to touch your car to again.

My car made less power on a dynojet than it made on Sharif's dyno according to the sheets he gave me.

If you need any parts, advice, or anything else give me a shout!

welcome! i had my sti tuned at topspeed in atlanta and made 300/330 which was VERY fun!

just curious but what's your reasoning against forged performance? I've heard better things about forged than i have about topspeed especially considering probably more than half of the people that work at forged left topspeed to work their. plus Sharif seemed really nice and good at what he does. plus he helped show me what he was doing while he was tuning which most tuners don't do. he was also pointing out some flaws in my old tune from Robbie @ epic motorsports which i totally believe since i wasn't extremely pleased with it.

as for the dyno that's strange for a dynojet to read less than a dyno dynamics but it really just depends on the dyno and the day.

your rocking an evo it looks like right?

We have a DynoJet, and it reads point on with another shop in the area. We've tested it with a few different cars on the same day. Just a thought.

Welcome to the forum.

ya don't worry I'm not trying to hate on dynojets or anything it just seems like the general consensus (at least on nasioc) is that most dynojets read high as hell compared to mustange and dynodynamics and the forged dyno dynamics is an exceptionally low reading dyno.

Do you think an employee of a company would talk higher of the past company they worked with whilst talking with a customer of the current company they work with? Do you know why the people left TopSpeed, do you know if they were fire or if they quit, and if so what for? Not trying to attack but just trying to put it in perspective.

Which techs left TopSpeed for Forged, I know just about all the techs from both shops by name.

I sent my car to Forged Performance for the same reasons you did, word of mouth.... However what happens on the web is that people that sponsor the forums that you read and research these companies have the power ( i.e. vendor fees) to impact what information does and doesn't get to stick on online forums. This being the case you get a very narrow angle view of what actually goes on in the real outside of what you read, and sometimes that view is of a totally different perspective.

Facts I that I know are 100 percent true.
1. During the 9 months that my car was at Forged Performance two mechanics quit.
2. Sharif doesn't even know how to hook up a secondary fuel pump to a standalone ecu.
3. Forged Performance is not aware that a battery ground is not supposed to be attached to the chassis via a ziptie.
4. Sharif will not get on the phone to speak with you after spending 18k dollars on your car if you are unhappy about it.
5. Ryan( Ryan Doi the sales guy at forged) had a shop local to me ( CBRD Speedfactory) build his car and IveyTune (company whom I now work for) tune his car whilst he was an employee at Forged Performance. Now tell me why on earth would an employee of a "Tuning" shop have his personal car worked on at a shop in Pennysylvania and then tuned at a shop in New Jersey when they can do all this work in house? Maybe it's because they cannot do it in house.

It's not that I personally have something against forged performance it's just that I have experienced the shoddy work that they do first hand, and have also heard some of the nightmares of what went on from another member of this forum. How would you feel if you found loose bolts in between your spark-plug cover and head, or motor mount left loose, or grounds improperly connected when your car is returned to you via a trailer from a very well renowned tuning shop?

Now how would you feel if you just dropped near 20k on the service and parts...

Exactly.

Yes, I am rocking an evo.

ya man i get what you're saying and i definitely understand your distaste for forged...
the only reason i went to forged is i wanted to get tuned by Scott siegel but since he recently went back to his 9-5 engineering job i went with his first recommendation which was Sharif.

just curious how long ago did this all happen to ya? cuz one of the sales guys (Trey) and i were talking about all the people that had recently come over from Topspeed (including Scott and himself; don't really know any other names but he mentioned a few techs.) and at least he made it sound like they left topspeed not that they got fired because of some issues going on at Topspeed.

i don't really know many details of the whole situation but i do know that i really enjoyed the overall experience i had over there and so far I'm very happy i spent my $400 there instead of somewhere else. on the other hand it really sucks you had such bad luck with them.
Dyno runs were dated 10-15-09.

Siegel is a very good dude, shame you couldn't get things worked out with him.

Siegel never worked at either of these places he merely rented the dyno from them to tune himself. It's pretty common and lots of people see it as people working at a place but it's not quite like that, it's all the shops liability and resources in return for the tuners knowledge and expertise. Money changes hands, things get confusing when cars blow up, it's really not a good way to operate but unfortunately because of the initial cost of a dyno it happens all the time.

Regardless of who was working there for cars to leave like that is just very sloppy. A shop is not defined by the outcome of a single car, but to do this sort of stuff on a regular basis and survive is really a showing of how the people that are still there (Sharif) handle his business. I can say without a doubt, any GOOD shop, there are certain things that you just don't allow to go on. It's not that they asked Sharif if they could murder his exhaust and then he said hes to every hammer whack, but the fact that the car left that far from the estimate/invoice that he was billed for is really a big dollar scam.

There's no way those bills and cars got to the customers without him directly knowing what was going on with them. You don't sit in a car that you just had your "mechanics" working on for months and start to tune it without having a good idea of what just happened to it.

I work at a computer and I know the mileage, vin, fuel in the tank, alignment, and rev limit to name a few things before we even think of putting a car on the dyno. To let a car LEAVE with things like that done to it that weren't there when you started...come on man.

Ugh I hate you, You have the exact model year and color combo of WRX that I wanted when I was looking around for a car. JK about the hate, welcome and hope to see you around. I bet that thing hauls so butt.
Welcome!! That's awesome Subie!!! I'm the resident American car freak, but I do love how meaty Subies sound with an exhaust. I'm sure you'll have fun wiping the floor with me at the autocrosses. First meeting is tomorrow night in Daniel 100B (the big auditorium near the library bridge) at 8. Come on out and meet the guys (and gals if you can believe it) if you can Smile
