Nicely done
Not sure how real iracing is, but if takes into account the actual power/tq curves of the cars engine you probably want to shift a LOT earlier.

That is one thing I am still trying to figure out. I know on the spec racer ford, it revs to 6500, but I noticed the power dropped off at 6000 so I shifted there. I then saw people were shifting at 5500. I tried that and took off 0.5 seconds at lime rock.
Some people rev the Jetta higher than I do, some shift lower. I have tried both and haven't seen any difference. Ill have more videos up today.

Nice lap. I'm pretty familiar with RA. Some suggestions that may help you shave some time.
Turn 1 still looked fast. Try a long, light brake there and carry it out to the perimeter grass before turn in.
Use the outside curbing in turn 2 to straight line the braking for turn 3 more and open up the radius. TDI cars tend to bounce around over curbs so if it does, keep doing what you're doing. Try turning in a bit earlier for 3. Looked like you had some more curb you could use at apex, which would allow you to get to power earlier.
Esses look real smooth. On the ess that goes left right before turn 5, try to swing the car left about another foot as you come out of it so that you can straight line the brake zone for 5 more and keep from early apexing. Again, if the TDI suspension will allow, ride the right tires up on the outside curbing before turn 5 to get a bit more radius and use all the inside curbing at 5 if it doesn't bounce the suspension too bad.
Turn 6 looks like you're apexing a bit early. Trail the brakes a bit longer and into the turn allowing the car to compress and use the banking there. Looks like the early apex has you coasting a bit right after turn in as you wait for the car to pivot. You should be off the trail brake and straight to power in the TDI's.
7 looks perfect.
10a and b look good too. Only thing I noticed is a bit of tire scrub at the exit of b that may be costing you some speed up the hill. The outside gator strips exiting 10b are crazy bumpy in real life. They look quite smooth and usable in the sim so you're not having to compromise 10a as much to stay off of them.
Probably overkill on the info, but try running a lap with the tips and post a vid of it if its faster so we can compare.

looks like a cool simulator. Angelo, that's pretty in-depth advice! When can we get an update on your racing activities?

Thanks for the info Angelo. This was my fastest lap in the race but it wasn't my fastest overall. I have a 1:40.01X as my qualifying lap.
Since turn 1 is so quick I know I am turning in earlier than I should. I just need some more time to get used to turning later without going off into the grass on corner exit.
I usually use more curbing on turn 3. Ill try staying more left on corner entry and see how it goes.
Usually I do use the curbs on the esses and setup more right going into turn 5. I am still trying to figure out where the apex should be for 5.
Turn 6 I wasn't sure about either, but this weekend I was racing at lime rock and the turn before you go up the hill I would do the same thing I do at RA at turn 6. I then followed other people who were doing it correctly and I notices how much faster it was. Turn 6 is basically the same but with no hill.
It may not look like it but the curb at the apex and exit of 10b really upset the car. In the video was the fastest I think I have gone through there. When you drive you in the game you do notice the difference int the gators and the grip.
On a side note if anyone can afford to play iracing I highly reccomend it. Super realistic from my limited experience. I mean you can tell a difference on the pavement every inch of the track. VIR south is the only track I have been on in real life and in the game and it is amazing how acurate it is. Everyone who plays is really nice too. People who run into others to pass them don't exist in this game due to how the experience system works. I like it a lot.

fb me if im not your friend already. Pictures from each race weekend are up there. I was at Road Atlanta this weekend actually. I got a victory by the closest margin in Skip Barber history. 0.001 seconds. We were side by side through turn 12.

Great Lap Zach. I've been around VIR quite a few times as well but you pretty much nailed that lap I got nothing for ya. I'll have to try turn 1 like that next time ha!

I tried a bunch of lines through turn 1 and apexing really late seems to be the best/fastest way.
I can't wait to do the 24 hour chumpcar race at North course next year.
