Let us have a discussion about my next set of tires.
For the money... what is the best street tire I can use everyday?
I currently run a Nitto INVO... not a bad tire... damn good in the rain... good in the dry... made them last a year and three months! bout 24,000 miles...
I'm thinking of buying 255/40/17's Nitto NT05's, RA1's, PS2s... or something of the sort...
What do you guys think? Tread wear isn't that much of an issue with me... just throw out some ideas...
i've got nitto terra grapplers....... i recommend them highly
CSCC Fails at life...
Thank you Patrick for replying... You are cool...
27 views and one reply to a tire discussion... that is a cardinal sin to an entity such as an autoxing sports car club...
i think you need a lot more power, and then run drag radials on all 4 wheels!
nt05's or ra1's seem a little much for the street, but at least you would have lotsa grip. Ps2's seem like a little bit more of a street tire, but very $$
Maybe because most people actually UTILIZE the fact they have really sticky tires, lol...
You may think cheap all-seasons get you in trouble but at least you can afford the ticket after saving several hundred on tire prices...I mean you have AWD and the longest gearing this side of a Ford GT, what kind of trouble can you get into

You know me Josh, I was all about the 255/45/17's to the extent that the CSCC had to change their "street tire" regulations
Honestly, I would go with all seasons, your rocking a yacht why get caught up in jetski modifications?

Thanks guys... LOL I'm not sure what I'm gonna get still... I can get NT05's for a ra tarted awesome price... PS2's as well...
I do like the RA1's though...at least on Bryan's miata!
you can technically drive around on Hoosiers everyday, they are DOT legal.
After that, Kumho V710 or BFG R1's,
Othe DOT legal race tires: Nitto NT-01, Toyo RA-1, Toyo R888, Hankook Z214, Yokohama Advan A048, i'm sure few others that i missed.
As far as tires with real treadwear ratings: Hankook RS3, Toyo R1R, Bridgestone RE-11, Falken Azenis K, Dunlop Star Spec, Kumho XS,
great bang for the buck tires from tire rack: kumho spt, $124 each, and Sumitomo HTR Z II, $85 each
Thanks dave!
I have been pondering the R1R's and RA-1s as well
I think I might just see how I like the Pilot Sport 2's this time around
you are comparing a bunch of different quality of tires. race tires vs street tires.
RA-1's are specifically made for road racing and would last 10k miles at most, probably 5-7k in most scenarios. 100 treadwear.
R1R's aren't much different, prob 9-12k miles, and will heat cycle out horribly. 140 treadwear
both are expensive, wear extremely fast, and super overkill for daily driving.
are you getting a deal on the PS2's?
i'm sure they are great tires as most michelins are.
they are like $800/set from most places.
Yeah... sometimes I like super overkill on certain things...
HAHA Yea I'm getting a pretty good deal on some PS2's through a buddy of mine and while they are the most expensive tires that I was considering, I think I will like them the most for street driving right now.
It was really down to NT05s or PS2 mostly...
What's the need for sticky tires if these are going to be daily drivers? Zach recommended Falken Ziex 912s and I've been very happy with them. Decent grip and wear and not to loud. Price was good too. I'd ighly suggest them.
Remember, less sticky rubber = more 4 wheel drifting
