Toyota is scared of the Mustang and Camaro.
I think all they need to do is keep it really light and it would differentiate itself enough from those two. Too bad about the delay. Even though I would never buy another toyota, its sad to see potentially fun cars get delayed/possibly canned.

I recall the LF-A was originally scheduled for 2008 to be released. Toyota's CEO loves sports cars, so I think that this little car will happen.

The LF-A was canned and re-started like 10 times.
I wont be surprised if this thing gets watered down and lame by the time it comes out. All this mention of hybrid technology and whatnot... Meh. I have no interest in Toyotas. Even the LF-A is just a big expensive box of technology.

Aren't most Japanese cars? The GT-R is 3800 lbs of processors

Most very high performance cars are nowadays, not just the Japanese. Technology isn't nessisarily a bad thing either, it just depends on how well it is done. I still like how the new miata is still bare bones though. Mazda FTW!

AGREE. I think other companies should learn from that. Light is better.

this car has already been calnned once... i likes the first version better too...
originally it was supposed to be a 4 cylinder hybrid that used capacitors instead of a battery.
when braking for a corner they said 90% of the energy of slowing down was to be absorbed by the capacitors and upon exiting the turn and when acceleration was applied, all the energy in the capacitors would be used to re-accelerate the car boosting the car from its normal 215 hp to 400hp. it was supposed to get ~30mpg as well with a top speed of ~150-160
ohh and did i mention that the roof could slide back and fold flat over the rear seats converting it from a coupe to a roadster?
and it was called the ft-hs

^^ That looks horrendous.

It's definitely futuristic, but I like way the 86 looked personally. I still think that they'll build it eventually, but first they have all that bad PR to deal with.

I'm not saying technology is bad when it improves the driving experience. Technology that drives the car for you and isn't beneficial for driving dynamics... I don't like that technology.
I'm not a huge fan of newer cars much at all... Too refined =P I like how my mustang threatens to tear itself apart, and you can feel every pebble in the road through the wheel of the miata. I drove a newer solstice gxp and it was nice and fun, but too civilized. xD

If that is what you like, then you really need an LS1 swapped into a 3rdgen Fbody.

haha, my old thirdgen did feel like it wanted to tear itself apart, but I don't think its for the same reason his mustang does. And he wants to feel the road through the wheel, not his butt. My old thirdgen made you feel everything through the seat... rough ride.

It's a good thing that technology didn't make it, that sure would screw up a lot of track weekends. Having a full course yellow in every session to clean up the mess from that would be no fun
