I read about this last year in Mustangs Monthly. All I can say is DANG IT WHY CAN'T I HAVE MONEY?!! Smile
Why do you muscle car people like this stuff? Looks like those Civics that have tacky plastic all over them to me, but with more iron Tongue
I'm not a fan; as far as "why can't I have money"... my excuse is I like spending it too much Smile

I can't argue that's not equivalent. It really is when you think about it. But this thing is different, because of the tech behind it. It's got a full coilover suspension, 427 small block stroker, NITROUS (just like the movie), and it really looks like the original.
I don't like it.

but it's a clone of a car from a much better movie! i like the movie car, but i prob would never have one bc it's exactly the same as everyone else who went, oh i want one of those! mass produced "customs" are not exactly my style.
I don't like the body kit. But the underbits I don't mind.

My point exactly. I don't like the flares on the fenders and the gaping scoops all that much either, but the equipment and performance potential is awesome.
i dont get it... i mean, thats not even the right body kit for the movie. I guess they made it themselves... but the body kit in the movie was made by veilside if i remember right...
the body kit? ew. but the performance? om nom nom. I've often thought about what would happen if my dad's 66 ended up in my posession. I've decided that it would become a clean, mean, performance-rod. it'd have that same flare and look, but modern suspension, steering, modern 5 speed, harness bar, rear spoiler, side pipes. God i love classics!

Really? I would really like to see some sort of link on that. Not calling you out, I just think thats VERY funny that a Japanese body kit company made the first Eleanor...

AHHHHH!!!! Blasphemy! Lol From what I saw of the movie, 1967 they used was a combination of Shelby styling cues. Here is the original car:

And here is an Eleanor:

The bumper was similar to the GT350R of 1966, but they placed the driving light in there as opposed to in the upper grille. The rear quarters are unique touches, mainly to allow clearance for the larger wheels and tires and the side exhaust is unique as well. Regardless of who did the kit, it's a good update on the classic I'd say.
I remember back when I first saw the movie thinking that eleanor was the most awesome car i'd ever seen. Looking at it now, for whatever reason, I just see a 60's mustang with a bunch of plastic bits plastered all over. Hood bulge is silly, blue turn signals are silly, front bumper is kind of ugly, and the window scoops are pointless. Sad What's happening to me that I look at that and think "rice"?
