This isn't to call out any shops specifically. We have customers as far away as raleigh and charleston. I can only speak for our tunes and not other shops. That being said and done, our tunes focus on maximum power per psi or displacement without compromising safety or reliability.

Just wanted to see what the cars at dyno night put down and what their a/f ratios were, along with any knocking and such before we advertised this. There is a hell of a lot of room for improvement, especially for the domestic guys who attended.
I think your first customer to tune is Alex with the LT1 car, I am sure you can make earn your money on that car!!
But really, if you are going by the dyno day information, when you saw what they put down, the AFR they showed and asked them if it had been tuned or they shared that information with you, did you ask them if they had made any other changes to the car after said tuning session? lots of guys make changes and get back to their tuner down the road (if smart but sometimes that never happens).
And depending on who they said tuned the car, I believe there is more power to be had, I know several in the 150mile radius that say they tune but are lack luster.
This idea sounds really good when discussing it within the shop but once put out there it really turns into a pissing match.
Shon, thank you for sharing your thoughts. We are sponsors of several other forums and out of respect for the other board sponsors we disclosed that the guarantee will not apply to their customers. It's just not right.
I can't speak for other shops but when our customers pay us for tuning services, we don't leave any power behind. We simply feel that if we leave any power on the table, we wouldn't be doing our job.
i am very glad i got a new box of pop corn at walmart this weekend. think im just gonna sit back and watch these fireworks.
what happens if you take the timing a little to far and pop a head gasket? do i just get $200 credit towards the repair? or are you going to pay for me to take it to the shop of my choice to have it fixed? or tell me tough luck and leave me car in your parking lot for me to tow home?
Why would we take timing a little too far to begin with? It would simply be counterproductive. No other way around it.
For those who are not aware of it, pump gas like most fuels makes power up to a certain point. If you add power past that point, then you start to loose power and if you add timing once again, you'll encounter engine knock. That's why we have a Dyno, so we can see what's happening and take appropriate steps. And in case you're wondering, yes, knocking is sometimes audible and can always be seen on Dyno charts as well, even before it becomes audible provided that the Dyno software provides enough resolution. Ours does. It's a powerful tool and we use such tools to the fullest.

FYI, we tune unichip which supports mini and many other vehicles. I like dimmsport but that market just isn't there to front $10K on a tuning license.
what about carb tuning? i need to get an accurate A/F reading on my car and adjust accordingly. i can smell it's a little rich.
