I know several of you have heard of this tournament and maybe seen flyers up but I just wanted to post it up to make sure as many people come as possible. The proceeds from this event will go towards the CSCC Lemons team which we will be creating (or at least continuing) next semester.
Entry is only $5 and it is a winner take-all event with a grand prize of $50 or 20% of proceeds, whichever is higher.
Talk it up to all your friends, this event is open to anyone, not just Clemson students.
Even if you may not be able to do the auto-x or maybe don't have a car optimized for driving fast come show everyone just what you can do behind the wheel of the most advanced racing sim available for XBOX!
Flyer is attached; hand out, email, and post everywhere possible...
This is on my calendar, I wouldn't miss this for... just about anything, except maybe a track weekend (which isn't applicable anyways). I'm ready to take home the win in this. ;-) I hope you guys have been training as much as I have. ;-)
I might have ME 222 lab that day at 6:30 depending what group Im put in. Ill try to talk my TA about into putting me into a group so I can make it.
Few questions:
-Do the participants in the race agree on a PI before the race or does the "tournament leader" decide?
-Do we bring our own controllers? Are there going to be steering wheels there?
-Does each person have their own TV? If not, how many people on each TV?
-Since there are no collisions, Im guessing were racing head to head not like a hot lap kind of thing, right?
Maybe Im looking too far into it, should be a good way to raise money if we get enough participants.
I need some more info. Tracks, PI settings, Cars, etc. I gotta get ready

i should be able to make it, i'll see if my boss wants to come too, he plays forza nonstop
Apparently we are only allowed to use cars in the game with the factory settings... no upgrades allowed, in order to even out the field. From what I've gathered, you can tune the car as much as you'd like, pending if the car is capable of being tuned. Tire pressures are definitely allowed to be changed though, but other than that we will be driving the same cars.
Kind of a shame, I have some unbeatable S and B class cars... I seriously never lose with them. :-\

The tracks and performance index are decided on before the race, so nothing will be decided on day of. Sorry but we decided to keep the tracks and cars secret; it will start out on something like D class on some sort of reasonably easy track.
You will be able to tune your car, but it will still be a stock car so you will not be able to do too much (except tire pressure I guess). You can bring your own controllers, however we will provide regular Xbox 360 controllers for the tourney. No steering wheels this time, sorry...
We will have 2 LARGE tv's, which should be plenty for the space we are allowed in Edgars. We are still considering whether or not we have enough time to do double elimination (depends heavily on how many people show up), so if we have a small group then one TV will be the main tourney and one will be consolation. We will be playing a 1v1 type on each race, none of this 8 people racing the same race.
There are no collisions, mostly to keep from people b!tching after they get hit on the last lap and the other guy wins. You will still be racing head to head, just not be able to hit the other car.
I can say one thing about the tracks, you can be sure to see the 'Ring as the final track using R1 cars.

If you make it to the final I hope you have been working on your R1 skills, Josh and I have been knocking Ring times down like its nobody's business

Can I enter and race over LIVE? I don't think I would be able to drive up and back that night.

It'd be fun, except for the completely getting pwned part. I need an xbox

Hey hey hey, this needs to be open to xbox live racing for competitors not located in the Clemson area, agree with the man 2 posts up
I'll pay to play!!!
Scorke
if we open it up to LIVE participants, it throws in a whole new set of preparations that i'm not sure we'll be able to make. the main one being setting up paypal and registration. it would be a lot more simple if we keep it personal. i'll talk to john and see what he has to say.
Let people play over Live in the consolation tournament?
Are the tracks going to be all the real life ones (aka road atalanta, laguna seca and not the made up sidewider, etc.)? I know all the real life tracks but Im not familiar some of the made up ones.
About how long are the race going to be? 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc.
Is damage (where it affects performance) going to be turned on?
I'm soooo down.
Also, someone create a facebook group. That will attract more peeps.
