you would think that, but it seems they're very stingy with the $1.2million budget that student org. gets.
Quote:Over the 10-year period, in-state tuition and fees rose from $1,795 a semester to $5,539 a semester to compensate for the reduced state aid and factors such as inflation and higher spending on faculty.
wow... has inflation been that high since 2000? Or have I just been too dumb to notice (very possible)?

The principle cause of that is simply the lottery. When the State agreed to give free money to in-state schools in the form of those scholarships, suddenly, school is more expensive. They'll call it something else, but that's all it is. I benefit greatly from this system, but I am one of the few. I think that he cost should be much lower. When you can bill the government, people tend to jack the price up to try and squeeze that cash out. Ask the Pentagon about their 1 million dollar toilets. Another possible reason is the "improvements" and new buildings and more people coming.

But that's for national defense and we have to be "strong" on national defense... meaning we have to give them whatever money they ask for and not necessarily require any serious amounts of checks to make sure we don't make helicopters that topple over or bases w/ showers that electricute our soldiers.
Sorry, off topic.
Either way, Clemson is a great university that I'm glad I attended. I am however still upset at the continued lack of funding from our "beloved" state house and the large spending increases at Clemson that I fear have priced out some in our state that would have been able to consider at the older tuition rates. To me this is completely unfair and potentially can further divide the educated from the non and therefore the haves from the have nots.
