Maybe I'm being over paranoid with this, but it sounds to me like the roads won't clear until mid-day Sunday - anything that does melt in that brief 32+ window Saturday will ice Saturday night. I know it's hard to call this now, but that's what I'm imagining happening.
I'm guessing this is why

Tires will be hard as iron, that rough pavement will break rubber off in chips.

Given the temperatures that are being called for, I would also agree that it may just be better to put it off/cancel the event. We have another in February and everyone who registered and paid for this one could count that towards the Feb. AX.
Being outside in those temperatures would really suck for all the workers too, including Registration, who isn't even running the AX

Seriously though, another weekend would probably work out much better.
alright guys. we haven't heard back from NASA yet about moving the event to Sunday, but i'm hoping that it's going to be a non-issue. it's not changed to Sunday yet, but it is likely. fingers crossed that they'll let us know tomorrow.
as to canceling the event, there's absolutely no way we can do that. the event is already paid for and the contract has been signed.
if you CANNOT come, send an e-mail to clemsonsportscarclub@hotmail.com and we will credit you an autocross. a post on the forum does NOT count as letting us know.
I know the weather is not optimal, but we can't help mother nature. all we can do is hope that the weather man grants us fair weather and clear skys.
Any more news on this? Should be fun driving the mustang with the cones on snowy frozen roads to get there.
Too bad about the weather. That is the problem with Winter. Even though a Subaru can race in the snow, I'm staying out of this one.
We've just sent out an updated email. We're waiting on our last confirmation for the event to change to Sunday, but its 99% set on Sunday. Also, were strongly considering shifting the starting times a little to accommodate for the weather as well.
NASA called today and said we're clear to have the event on Sunday, so that's the plan now. we may shift everything back an hour, but check your e-mails' later today for details on that.
thank you guys for being patient with us, and i'm sorry if this change has inconvenienced any of you.
Per the recent email we sent out.
Quote:Hey everyone,
We've gotten all our insurance and documents signed and approved to change the event
day to Sunday. We have also decided to move the event schedule 1.5 hours later than
normally scheduled to allow for additional travel time and also to let things warm
up and for any road conditions to clear up. Here's the revised schedule so please.
Setup 8:30
Registration 9:30-10:45
Tech 9:45-11
Drivers Meeting 11:15
First Car Out 11:30
We will be making sure to thoroughly evaluate the lot condition when we arrive for
setup to make sure the event can still be done safely. If anything comes up we will
make sure to let all of our attendees to know immediately and address the issue.
*ALSO NOTE*
Since the event date has changed, we would like to request EVERYONE to update any
forums where this event is posted to make sure that anyone reading it is made aware
of the change to Sunday and the later registration as well. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT
SO PLEASE DO THIS NOW.
Thanks for your patience and we hope to see you on Sunday!
CSCC
Robbie, please make sure to change this on the front page announcement as well. I'm updating this info on the reg page as well.
As I go outside to chip away at enough ice to get my Jeep open, and I see more snow coming down, I ask...are we really doing this event tomorrow? I have the ramps for my trailer all scraped off so hopefully they will be clean enough to get the club car (which I had de-catted on Friday, and replaced a corded tire) back on the trailer in the morning, but getting out of my driveway with the trailer will be another story entirely. If it comes right down to it, I'll head out with the timing equipment in a car and consider going back for CC1...
I'm going out there at 8:30, Keegan will too I'm sure. I imagine we'll make the call from there, but as he explined already, we just can't cancel unless AU will refund our rental fee.
What's up guys? I just moved to central and found this site. I'd like to come check out the auto x tomorrow. Where is it at?

hopefully, you have a GPS if you aren't familiar with the area.
if you know how to get to Anderson, it's like 1-2 turns off of Clemson Blvd.
