With the (huge) help of my friend Nick, we did a little modification to the wheels on my Protege. What started out as a comment made in jest ended with a trip to the auto parts store and a pretty decent end result.
I was a little skeptical before the project, but I'm very satisfied with how it came out.
I also bought some engine bay cleaner and gave everything under the hood a thorough cleansing, which really improved the look down there.
Anyway on to the pics...

Haha Good stuff James. And your right... not half bad.
I swear Chase, pics don't do it justice. I suck with cameras, even little point-n-shoots, but I think it looks good in person.
What did you do the red stripe with?
Red pin striping stuff we found at Advance. Why, are you thinking ye olde Vette needs a little update?

Na... im good ha. Might look kinda cool though... take that back haha. Im not JDM tight anymore

.
Dude, I totally forgot to tell you. The Z is back kicking ass again! I was having serious throttle problems, but Chris and I figured out it was the MAF sensor, and as luck would have it, he had one laying around so the car is as good as the day I got it back from FP!

HAHA Word. That is great. Need to get it back out to the meets.
School is pounding me in the ass this semester (18 hours FTMFL), so maybe next week.
lol nice. Time attacks on the slowtege

^What can I saw, I suppose I'm letting my inner-ricer out, lol.
What size engine does yours have? My brother has a 5spd '97 protege with the 1.5L and it sounds pretty mean without the axle-back on. And yes I know this cause I took it off for shits and giggles

. I also painted his calipers red the other day. Looks pretty good surprisingly.
Mine is a '99 with the 1.6L. When I first got the car, I drove it around without the air filter on for a couple of days because it sounded beefier.
If you're trying to ball on a budget, its tough to add things to a car, but you can always take stuff off, lol.
Should sound about the same then if its only 0.1 liters more displacement. I'll upload the video I took of it so you can hear. And yep it is much easier to take stuff off than pay for new things

. I wish my car's OEM exhaust wasn't one single piece so I didn't have to buy an aftermaket exhaust just for some more noise.
Pics do NOT do the car justice! These wheels are MINT! Nothing but greatness for the Protege. It's ready to race now
